Can I Flat Tow my EV?

No, you can't flat tow an electric vehicle. There's a lot of confusion around this topic, since many EVs CAN be emergency towed. But flat towing is a different beast, and here's why.

I flat tow my model 3 performance behind my class A without issues. Gone over 10, 000 miles. Just enable tow mode and keep it under 65. Steering stays unlocked in camp mode.

I was worried at first. I stopped every few miles and enabled track mode to check the motor temps and they were fine.

I just wish that Tesla supported it. Would be nice if regen could tie into the trailer brake controller for example.

this isn’t really a good explanation. the only reason ev can be flat towed (at this time) is because of the car is off, the oil pump will not be running to keep the motors cool, and along with that, the parking brake likes to apply by itself if the vehicle is rolling. i don’t see any reason why you couldn’t flat towed an ev if the made a flat tow mode that one, kept the parking brake disengaged, and two, ran the oil pumps just like it would if the vehicle was driving under it own power. physically the car is capable, but the software is what’s holding it back. i have no doubt that you could flat tow these car for very extended periods of time given what i just mentioned, it would be amazing if it even turn on regen to charge the battery while flat towing

EVs are so high tech but haven't figured out how to put a nuetral gear in. You cant tell me that it only has a forward and reverse gear without a nuetral?

Just buy a Ram or a Jeep. Transfer case in neutral, doesnt have a steering lock, no goofy nonsense with unplugging batteries. Air Force One from etrailer has been awesome with my diesel-pusher.
