DAX is an awesome language, but sometimes, DAX can produce results that are not expected. In this webinar you will discover why this behavior occurs and at the conclusion of this session, you will have a better understanding of why the total row may not match your expectations and how you can use DAX to return more intuitive results.

Hi MitchelSQL, would be possible to add a link to download the pbix file used for this demo?

Hi MitchelSQL. First of all, awesome webinar/ video. Second, I simply love the way you teach and explain things. When I had the premium account at Pragmatic, your videos about DAX are amazing. Now I want to ask you and Pragmatic team starting using zoom in / out when showing something special or when something is in explanation focus mode. Why? Because it will help people watching through mobile devices. I know it will bring you more work, but I almost gave up watching because through mobile it is hard to see measures in detail. Maybe if your audience has to stop mobile and jump to desk or notebook, they could not come back and direct to another video. :) Thanks in advance.

I don't understand how the SUMX(Values(‘Date’[Month), Dynamic Measure works. . On a base level I get the idea but how PowerBI knows how to do it confuses me.

I get that Values() returns a single column table of the values of each month. Easy. But when the Dynamic Measure runs how does it know that the list of months in the Values(‘Date’[Month]) table are dates and not just a table of text strings. When the Value() function executes does it retain all the associated relationships?
I am obviously reading something wrong. In my mind DAX is saying LastSaleDate in the Dynamic Measure would be evaluated on the table Values(‘Date’[Month]), but its just a list of strings. LastSaleDate looks for the max orderdate on the sales table. January isn't a date.

What am I missing?
