When I was a kid I asked my father what the rumble strips were for and he told me that it was for the vision impaired could still drive. I was embarrassingly older before I figured out he was lying.

Imagine how annoyed you’d be if you actually wanted an image of Atari breakout and suddenly your search just turn to chaos

Rumble strips can also be used if you find yourself driving in whiteout conditions in a snowstorm where you can’t see the edge of the road.

I am still here now thanks to the rumble strips. They wake you up really well when you doze off at the wheel. Who invented them is a genious.

One of my favorite things about this channel is it throws some occasional humor while I learn new things for the day.🤠

Small backpacks were originated in the European Alps. The patch with the slots was designed to have a small, short leather belt threaded through. At the bottom of the backpack, there was and still is a nylon web loop, These were both used to be able to carry an ice ax during the hiking portion of the climbing trip. The head of the ax was threaded through the loop and the shaft was pointed up. The small leather belt was used to strap the ax to the backpack. This left the hiker's hands free and the ax was only used on snow and ice.

On long road trips those rumble strips can REALLY make a difference. In my family growing up my mom once joked that it was driving by braille which remains a popular family joke. It was even more popular after the Mythbusters actually put a blind man behind the wheel of a car once to test a story.

No, metal cans change the taste of beer. Glass doesn’t mess with the flavor, that’s why people like them more

for the ring regarding the divers (ends at 5:53) - it also only turns counterclockwise so if it is accidentally turned during an action the time you think you have left is shorter than the time you actually have left - if it could also turn the other way around it could easily become deadly

The warming drawer in the oven thing was going around fb a couple years ago and everyone was shocked/excited, but it’s not always the case. Usually it IS just a drawer. You’ll likely know if it’s a warming drawer, there will be a knob to turn it on.

Those amber colored reflectors in the highway surface, called "Bots dots"' after the guy who invented them, are there to help keep lanes separate at night. But, if yours are reflecting red, instead of amber, get off the road because you are traveling in the wrong direction. The red color is on the back side.

There used to be a road near Walt Disney World with grooves in it that would make your car “sing” When You Wish Upon A Star when you drove over it. It’s closed and abandoned now but that was cool!
