I love my Oasis. The ergonomic design is pretty much perfect. And, for me, the fact that it is waterproof (unlike the Scribe) is a HUGE thing as I do most of my reading in the bath.

I absolutely love my Scribe as I’m one who prefers reading a larger page which resembles that of a hardcover book (without the heft). I’m not too interested in the notebook elements, it’s mostly a reader for me. Thanks for the review.

I love my Oasis! The button feature is so nice and if you add a pop socket you can easily hold it in one hand. Won't be upgrading until it stops working.

I bought my Scribe during the Summer Prime day sale primarily for travel. I wanted a Paperwhite. I agree that not being able to write on the page is a major flaw. But I like that I can use the notebook for long form journaling. It eliminates hauling around a lot of paper weight of books and notebooks. The battery life is fantastic. I'm happy that I have it.

I've been considering this upgrade for a while now. I feel like you saved me a big chunk of money. Once they come out with the ability to simply write ON the page, then I might make the leap, but without that ability I just don't think I'd end up using it over my Oasis.

Your videos are always my go to for kindle purchases! I did just buy the scribe for the Black Friday sale. 😂 I hesitated and teetered on it for the last couple of months, but I do a lot of annotating for fun and school. And one of the great features I noticed in my research is that when you want to pull up all the notes you took and sections you highlighted, it’ll gathering everything for you which saves time from having to flip through the text and transfer those notes (something that is very time consuming). So, I think it’ll save me some time (it typically can take 8-20 hours depending on the book) and a massive headache. This just means that my scribe will be my at home reader (which I do the most), my oasis will revert to my outdoor/at work/travel kindle, and my mom will inherit my paperwhite (since she reads once in a while). Thank you for an amazing video and for sharing!

I was very tempted to get this when it came out. I can’t get away from my iPad Pro since I draw. I like being able to have an all in one occupy kids, sketch, read etc. My wife loves her Paperwhite. Great review Mike!

I appreciate the heads up on how the page mark-up works. I, too, would rather write in the margins. I use a base model Kindle because of how pocketable it is. I’ll stick with that.

I've had Kindles since they were first released. I've never ever wanted to write on my books so, for me, I really don't care if that's an option or not. I liked the page turn buttons on other Kindles but found the tap to turn or swiping works much better for me. I didn't buy the Scribe to read books, although I do sometimes, I bought it for my PDF crochet and knitting patterns. Those I write on and it's absolutely awesome for that! I also wanted the templates for notes, calendars and check lists. My Scribe was well worth the price and does almost everything I want. Automatic orientation would be great. Also an option to change the screen timeout would be nice. I bought a case that the Scribe snaps into and rotates without moving the case itself. I also bought the premium pen which I highly recommend. One thing that truly sucks about the Scribe is the browser! They should just remove it completely because it's totally useless. For me, I didn't care about a browser so it's fine that it doesn't work. All in all, I'm super happy with my Scribe! Just my opinion of course.

I love my Kindle Scribe. I have really bad astigmatism, which makes it impossible for me to read on an iPad at night. My eyes begin to water, and I cry like a waterfall. Especially if the room is somewhat darkened so as to not disturb my wife while she is sleeping. I use the notes all the time. I use it for reminders on books to check out. Next books in the series. To read lists in various genres. Admittedly I am a list guy. I also write notes for various stories I am writing. I do wish I could write directly on the page and hope they fix that down the road.

I love my Scribe and my Scribe Tribe! 🙌🏻
I annotate, make lists, BookTube video notes, video ideas, etc. I love that my handwritten notes can be accessed from any Kindle App. I just started getting into creating writable PDF’s and write-on books have started dropping since the last software update - mostly puzzle books and journals - it’s only a matter of time until we can write on the actual text. The premium pen through the bundle is worth it. The case is junk. The edging of it frays over time. I picked up a cheap plastic origami shell case and LOVE IT so much more.

Kindle books and Amazon…is it ours? Well, I see it as a long term loan that will be gone if the Amazon servers die. LOL.

Fair review Mile! I wish it had buttons too! Cheers! ☕️ MJ

You took another bullet for your audience yet again 😄
I am joking but I'm also glad you reviewed this, because I realize that Scribe just isn't for me. I'm a simple guy, and Paperwhite remains my go-to e-reader.

Yeah, I still love my Paperwhite, but I can see where the buttons on the Oasis would be cool. But, to your point, there is absolutely nothing wrong with my Paperwhite and it still runs great so it’s really hard to part with the cash for some buttons. iPad and Paperwhite, I think I’m done for awhile. Great review as always.

Your original kindle video is how I found your channel! Years later I’ve read first law, lots of Stephen king, and am halfway through red rising!

I bought a kindle oasis because of you also.

What’s that case you have now for your oasis? I need it!

Owned a Scribe for a short while and decided to return it and got a refurbished Oasis instead. It's so much more comfortable for long reading sessions and I can hold (and turn pages) with one hand!

I like the general direction of the Scribe but i will not be buying it until we have the abiility to import custom templates/pages to use as notebook pages. I make a lot of worksheets for planners and language learning exercises and being able to add a variety of pages is essential for that. Boox has this ability down, as does samsung notes. But I'm hopeful it will come to the scribe as my reading is very much in the kindle ecosystem. Kindle unlimited is the best resource for graded readers.

My Kindle is so old that it still has the keyboard. 😅 My husband gifted it to me while we were dating and we have been married for almost 11 years. It still works, I use it all the time (there was a time a was in a long reading slump and didn't use it at all. But I've been using it constantly for two or three years now) I love it, I read mostly ebooks through my library, or do audiobooks on my phone. We don't buy a lot of physical books. I'll upgrade when mine doesn't work anymore. It has sentimental value to me. 😊

I have the scribe and the paper white. Due to a neurological condition I can not read for more than 15 minutes or so on a computer screen so the kindle works wonderful for me and was recommended to me by my neurologist. I prefer the scribe as I can change the font to a size that works with or with out my glasses, I can make notes, it can be flipped into landscape and two columns or just keep it on one column and I can read my manga on it with ease. I tend to use the paper white more when I am traveling and need to save space or just want to read. I do miss the turn page keys but will wait to see if the update the oasis or change another model for that. An oasis e color tan would be the best of both worlds.

I love my Paperwhite. It's bigger than the basic Kindle, but still fits is 99% of my handbags. I'm interested in the Oasis, but I need to check the dimensions and compare it against the handbags I normally use.
