Some brutally honest community college transfer advice

I've been looking back at my older CC related videos and realized that there's a common theme....

I've noticed that most of the advice/tips I've been giving are stuff that YOU SHOULD do when attending or preparing for CC.

So for this video, I decided to switch it up and tell you 3 things that you should NOT do.

3 key things that you should AVOID if you're going or planning to attend a community college.

Some of these advices you may not want to hear because you may be guilty of them.. but hey... it's better to get honest advice than false advice..

And don't feel too bad if you do...Cuz I've been guilty of them as well.. so I'm just passing my knowledge to you.

ADVICE #1: Starts @ 1:10
ADVICE #2: Starts @ 3:25
ADVICE #3: Starts @ 5:50

Remember.. at the end of the day.. what matters most.. is whether or not you take action.. of the knowledge you learn..

You can binge watch these CC vids all you want.. because the advice is true.. and the advice will help you.

But without taking action.. there really is no point..

Good Luck.

I WISH I went to CC out of high school now.. I'm transferring into CC from a state college at the moment because of financial issues but it's the best decision right now. I was not prepared at all for a state school, I did earn credits from a year and a half, but I also learned my major was not for me and am actually excited to explore a new interest at CC and become prepared to transfer into a different school I had no idea I would be interested in. So I believe CC is worth it!

I'm looking to go to CC because I come from an Upper-Middle class family, and have been a good student throughout my high school years. I've completed countless honors and AP classes, graduating with a near 4.0 and am looking to being admitted into top colleges in the country. However again, we are Upper-Middle class, and my parents are refusing to pay much for my college, leaving me with 120k in debt even if I go to state school. So community college, even though it hurts to realize my high school years didn't matter, would be a much more viable option. Then the complicated option comes, which is I can't have myself stay with my parents for another couple years as our relationship is not good whatsoever. But if I can just be resilient and live with my parents for another two years, go to CC, work part time and save up 25k or so, I'll hopefully be able to better afford finishing my college experience at a more prestigious university.

Honestly when I was in high school I had that mentality of thinking about creating new friends, partying, etc, and was pretty bummed that I chose to go to CC, even when there was a state school option (only one cause my grades were awful). However, I'm in my second year at CC and at least at my CC, is really good in terms of environment and learning. What I further realized is just the level of maturity and freedom I obtained as I am older, only a year and a half after being 18. I truly appreciate making my own money working, and I feel as if going to CC provides me the ability to live a life I choose to, because theirs a lot of freedom in my opinion with the level of coursework, which is relatively easy, and how much time you have. Now what I really want to do now is such make as much money as possible, save money, and eventually do stuff like traveling, and the thought of constant college partying, etc kind of doesn't excite me as much. But im just speaking on my behalf, not every CC is the same, and many do suck. But what I did obtained is that I'm starting to save so much money from just working and no rent or anything, and when I move out it gives me flexibility with the money that I have.

Community College is the way to go, financially. The first two years are general eds, anyway. The only sell for going to a 4-year is the full college experience all four years.

I actually dropped out of high school when the whole COVID situation happened. I was in my junior year of HS and I had no motivation to do my work and I wasn’t in the right mind at the time, but before the whole situation I had a decent GPA probably a 3.4, and I actually did my work. but Looking back I do regret it, and now I want to turn my life around so I plan on getting my GED, attending CC and transferring to a university. Thank you for this video !

My parents forced me to go to a state school last semester. I hated it. So much happier at CC rn.

Thanks for the video man. You’re right, the decision should by mine and no one else’s. It’s so hard nowadays to follow your heart because of what everyone else thinks. But this is something I have to ignore for success 🙏

Haha this guy is such a realist. Honestly, this should be the mindset of every student and maybe there wouldn’t be so much national student debt and people would generally be happier knowing they made their own decisions.

Everyone says CC sucks until they transfer and see that “Pay due:” statement for the first time. Everyone says CC sucks until they transfer and realize the school is impossibly large and they are on their own and professors don’t care about them and don’t have time for them.

CC and 4 years have their pros and cons, in my opinion going to cc for 2 years then transfer is the best of both worlds.

Listen to this guy, doing your research on everything is going to make the difference between loving your life and hating it! All the info you need is available online, or find someone who can give you tips. ALL the work you do will be worth it, I promise you.

Don't procrastinate on the research and know what you want to do and what your schedule will be like. Build connections with people so you know what classes to take with what professors. The decision is mine to be made, don't make the final choice off of someone else's say.

hey thanks for this, i’m a senior rn and scared af to go to college. my work habits aren’t where they need to be, and i feel like i’m not really prepared to be at a four year uni. i’m also conflicted because many of my friends are going to unis, and the people ik who are at cc aren’t exactly model students. but going to a cc and transferring seems like the best choice for me, and i want to go that route now :)

I wish I would've started out at a CC. I would've saved so much money. The college experience, after classes, is about the people you meet. I got quite the education just from meeting people from around the world. I ended up taking classes at a CC when I went home for the summer and joined their theatre department. Those folks were so much fun and we remain friends today (15 years later.)

Also there is a healthy amount of procrastination. If it goes to far you guys should actually seek help. It will not only affect your school life but long term goals.

Yo I’m on my finals week. Passed chem 1 with an A today, History and Trig tommorrow. All in all chances are pretty high that I will get As on all my classes, even with this covid bullshit. I’m going for engineering in Texas, on my 2nd semester rn. Anyhow just wanna wish good luck to all on the same journey as I am, stay strong guys!

Broooo thank u so much for your vids. I've been watching them periodically throughout the last few months while the whole application process has played out and I'm not gonna lie, your vids just gave me inspiration and insight! Just found out a few days ago that I got accepted into USC"s Annenberg for journalism as an incoming junior! Appreciate the vids, homie!

Im only attending cc because I missed all the deadlines for colleges in my state... Lmao. I ranked 20 out of 595 seniors in my graduating class and I am capable of attending the top colleges in my state but I'm glad I was lazy and decided to do two years and transfer. My work ethic isn't where i want it to be right now and I think going for the cheapest option is the best for me. Also, I don't have my driver's license and staying close to home gives me valuable time to start learning. I also can apply for jobs to get experience and get myself out there.

This video helped a lot. I just got rejected from all UCs so I'm enrolling into cc to transfer. Love your mindset!

Remember guys they want a diverse class, not a diverse student. Your 200 clubs won’t help if you aren’t a leader in any.
