Bacon!! In our drafty 260 year old farmhouse, a good English fry up on Saturday mornings helped us keep warm and have the energy for the heavy Saturday chores. Crisp bacon, eggs, fried mushrooms, fried bread, fried tomatoes, and bubble and squeak. All rounded off with toast and homemade marmalade and lashings of hot tea. Bacon is the single most important winter fuel, IMHO!
