How-to Charge a Non-Tesla EV at a Supercharger

How can you access Tesla's vast and well-run network of Superchargers if you own an EV from another car maker? Until the NACS standard rolls out to other brands in coming years, you have to use a little "Magic." We drove a Nissan Ariya to a Supercharger station to show what steps it takes to recharge an EV equipped with CCS using Tesla's Magic Dock-equipped unit.

I'm so lost on why if you buy your own adapter on why it won't work on the Tesla superchargers. Is it bc Tesla wants to know your vin number or something? I'm confused about this

Can't wait for the Tesla NACS Connector and the Magic Dock to essentially "work". A few weeks ago, I decided to take a risk and charge my 2022 Volvo C40 Dual Motor EV at The Tesla Superchargers in Vicksburg, MS. Terrible charging experience! I loved the fact that the CCS Magic Dock was installed, but when I plugged it in, I couldn't really get a charge to go through from the Tesla "Charge your Non-Tesla" app. I tried this at 8 different stalls with the same connection error. So, I don't believe this is ready for Prime Time for Non-Tesla owners. Volvo Cars USA hasn't come out and certified the Magic Dock connection either. I landed up getting stranded in Vicksburg at 10% SOC and had to stay overnight at a hotel so I could charge at a L2 charger to my final destination (Baton Rouge, LA). I have had no issues going I40 East to Nashville, I40 West to Little Rock, AR and even Saint Louis (MO) utilizing Electrify America's DCFC.

Yup- no magic docs in Oregon that I could find with the Tesla app 😞 Hah! Then I read down in the comments and noticed that Boardman, OR has a station that would work. The only SuperCharger with the adaptor in Oregon in a town of less than 4, 000 people. What's up with that?

We tried our Mach-E at one of these in Boardman, OR just this weekend. Worked great, but the cords will need to be longer if they really want mass adoption. We were lucky as the station wasn't too busy and we could find a charger that didn't require us to take up two spots. But in the future....???

Idk why tesla didn't just sell these adapters and make all chargers available with tesla charger with system account 😢

Nope the app doesn’t work that way. It just says “charge your EV”

Second video I’ve watched trying to find out peak charging speed. Not nearly so helpful if it’s really slow. Too bad he doesn’t say.

Non Tesla loaders take 2 places when port is on wrong side. Happend during busy chargetime. Frustration by Tesla owners.

Canada is way behind, as always, with anything, all the time, naturally.
