This is my thoughts on my initial impressions of testing Ardour as a viable DAW for audio editing as well as multitrack recording. Since Audacity has become SPYWARE I thought I would shine a light on the best open source Audio Workstation Software. More videos about Ardour are on the way! Also if you are wondering how to pass audio from Ardour to Simple Screen Recorder jump to the last 3 minutes and see how easy it is!

I agree very strongly; it's very difficult to setup Ardour on Linux because there isn't a lot of support or material available. I use Ardour, & Hydrogen Drums & it's all configured in Carla. Thank God for Carla, now I don't have to configure Jack myself - that was a nightmare. I mostly use this for music production (recording & mixing) & live performances. I typically record jazz & gospel music & that means: electric guitars, bass guitars, midi keyboards, vocals, & drums using Hydrogen drums. It's a good, & stable setup, but it took me a lot of time to figure out everything. I've also struggled getting good plugins for midi keyboards like piano sounds, strings, pads etc. (I use a midi keyboard & plugins loaded in Ardour - even for live performances). Similarly, I'm also looking at using my electric drums with Ardour plugins to allow me to configure different drum kits. Everything is a "research project" on Ardour - it could be easier if there were more documentation available.

Strange comparison. Considering Audacity is an audio editor (no realtime recording) and Ardour is a DAW. They don't even try to do the same thing.

It’s interesting because I tried many daws, even mixbus which I liked. But ardour is what I’m mixing on right now. We’ll see how it goes. There’s something about that’s just better then others
