Really good break down. I had to use the lyric “I choose me I am sorry” to a woman that cannot accept rejection or move with her life. She then later called me a narcissist out of anger cause she didn’t get her way. Eliminating that stress and toxicity from my life is a healthy decision and choice.

i resonated so much with this song and it made me realize that i must move out of my toxic family’s house. “point at me so that reflection can mirror freedom” and “i choose me” are so impactful. in the next week i am finally choosing myself and moving away to a much healthy place where i can work on myself instead of mediating all of my family’s conflicts. thank you once again for the analysis

This is great. Haven’t seen many analyses take this approach, very relatable

Thank you for the video! Definitely something refreshing on the take away from songs. Kendrick has a way not to sugarcoat the meaning of music. He understands it and uses it as a tool or channel to speak to people.

It’s also about the idiots taking about, “why Kendrick won’t drop a album every 5 mins”
This entire album is Kendrick’s therapy saying he’s going thru REAL LIFE with his wife and family and he CHOOSE HIMSELF over the public’s attention and pleasure. People forget that athletes, actors, and artists are actually people and they go thru trials and tribulations like everyone else.
