"I wish you all the best" was actually surprisingly heartwarming.

The fact that they even TRIED to STEAL an entire goddamn submarine is just insane to me. Their level of dedication to get any info out of each other during the cold war was unfathomable.

Step 1. Build ship to recover sub
Step 2. Recover sub
Step 3. Say the recovery wasn't fully successful
Step 4. Launch fake 2nd attempt, get caught before putting any real effort into the 2nd attempt
Step 5. Issue public statement saying nothing, and enjoy your recovered Soviet sub.

fern (and for us germans simplicisimus) are the best thing you can watch at any time of the day, good amounts of information packed into a simple to understand and properly visualized video. Keep up the good work!

My grandfather was contracted to build the claw. Most people on his team didn’t know the purpose of what they were building, but a few people had to be filled in to make sure it would work. The CIA interviewed my grandmother, both sides of the family as well as the neighbors from two different states they had lived in before filling my grandfather in.

My granddad Bobby Choate was a diver on this operation, as well as operation ivy bells. - He was a submariner that served on the USS Halibut, had amazing stories about his service and his life. Great man 💪

It seems like the only winning is Lockheed Martin:

- Got a 300 million contract to build the project
- Got the soviet technology

Lobby is awesome

“The location is still classified” = They still will not confirm nor deny it is really there at all & not located in an underwater company lab.

There are 2 types of YT video. The ones you watch while eating on 2x speed and the ones you would like to watch in a cinema. This one defines the second type. Great video!

These unbelievable stories are only what the public / media have uncovered, imagine what we are still yet to learn. Its almost scary to think about.
