A feature that shouldn't have gone away on windows 11 for me would be the option to move the taskbar to either side and the top of the screen instead of locking it to the bottom.

Speaking of features and hardware upgrades- would be cool if in windows 12 they finally get it to work on ARM efficiently. Windows ARM is a thing already but not as usable as Mac OS on m1. There are some obvious obstacles to achieve that, but maybe overcoming them will be main focus for 12.

The whole reason for Windows 11 existing was because Intel changed their CPUs to have big/little cores and the scheduling software couldn't handle it in Windows 10. When Win11 first released AMD CPUs had issues where it was a lot slower than before. So lots of bugs related to that.

What I feel it boils down to is they were working on updates for the current OS (e.g. Windows 10X which became 11, or Win11 Sunvally 3 which is rumored to be 12), and were pressured by OEM partners to force changing the hardware requirements to boost sales. Thus last minute decided to just make it into a whole new version to force new hardware sales. I can already see 12 requiring Ryzen 5000 or newer and 11th gen Intel or newer by the time it is released. This is because the way Windows 10 was structured and updated (builds) prior to 20H1 was essentially the full in-place upgrade process one would use going to a new OS. Thus the idea that a whole new version was warranted due to the changes is BS. It's all ablut driving sales for their partners period.

I do not see why... I am not buying into this. With everything going on, it's just kind of fishy they spit out two new version of Windows so fast. Even with 11 having performance and QOL issues from 10. I'm still on an old version of Windows 10 and intend to stay here as long as I can. Call me what you want!

Windows 2000 was one of the most stable windows releases ever. Only problem was drivers and compatibility win previous versions, but that was expected from changing the whole underlying architecture.

Couldn’t it be that Windows 10 was supposed to be the last windows and that the seasonal updates (which were a mess), was their plan to bring major updates. I can’t tell you how much a pain those updates were and what a mess it was. Trying to remotely update our clients was a crap shoot at best.

Seeing that, they decided to go back to the wholesale update via a new OS. I liked windows 10 for the most part and waited on windows 11. Once I saw things had settled on windows 11 we updated the whole office and it been extremely smooth. I get it, windows 11 like windows 8 came out with a ton of issues, but windows 8 and 11 figured those out and they work great. Let’s not pan windows 10 into being something amazing, it had real major issues (especially with updates).

I recently did a clean install of 11 as I had accidentally deleted my 10 install when setting up a dual boot with it and Ubuntu. Some of the changes in 11 took a few days to get used to but I like it.

Besides having to modify my windows 11 install to meet compatibility requirements (I have a 7700K), Windows 11 has been great. The big plus for me is when installing updates they actually work. Almost every major update on Windows 10 took months or a workaround to install and left Windows update with errors (I think this was mainly an issue on custom built PCs).

Been using 11 daily since launch, pc somehow auto updated or i accidentally aggreed. Love the new design but it isnt without flaw, the taskbar by default it too big. the new right click menu is terrible, which is fixable, but the worst thing about 11 is the search function, its slow and loves giving web results instead of just finding the files.

I hope 12 release is smooth.
Only issue I've had with 11 is my clock disappearing from the bottom right corner, no clue why it does that and I care to little to fix it.

For me 11 feels like a improvement over 10, as far as user experience wise at least.
I can't be bothered to compare performance it works better and I don't notice a performance difference.

for OS features that WILL be noticable, the upcoming update that adds native folder tabs is going to be neat. its kinda dumb to have to use multiple folder windows to go through folders

I didn't expect to hear about Windows 12 so soon. I'm actually enjoying Window 11 because of the smoother animations and clean UI.

The most they should do is have different ones available at the same time, so you could pick a theme essentially, that's it. We have all the features we'll really need, windows 11 biggest feature was Intel 12th gen or whatever because the different architecture. That was it. They could've updated windows 10 to work with it

I just got a new laptop. 11 is a lil weird but I don't hate it. Sometimes I'm like "where'd that thing go?" then when I find it I'm like "oh that's a fun place to put that."

I was an early upgrader to windows 11. And I did have some bugs in the first month but I've had a very stable experience for the entire rest of the year, more stable than I had on windows 10 even.

I was part of the few who actually properly decided to upgrade my laptop. And it was a nightmare. File explorer crashing, taskbar glitches, shitty display support. It had it all. And the best part is the error messages that don't make any sense. Oh also it slowed my computer tot he point where I'm upgrading after only 2 1/2 years of owning a laptop. AND switching to mac after being a huge windows fan.

I hope that Windows is able to get back to a more stable platform at some point. I miss the XP and even 7 days. Hell, 98SE was pretty darn solid.
Proton finally solved the last of my reasons to have to have Windows on my system. I know people will still need it for some of the games that have anti-cheat and some microsoft software that will be using some software+hardware lockdowns. Which is fine, I get it. I'm just glad to finally be free. I'll still do my job and deal with Windows at work, and have my laptop to keep myself up to date - but my home rig... Ahhhh - no more annoying stoofs. I get to have my layout however I want, and no more compatibility problems and lockups after every update with the latest hardware.

I've upgrated from 10 to 11, and was shocked at how short the installation was compared to upgrading from 8.1 to 10.

Only reason I'm using 11 is because I got a new laptop with it, it's basically the same as 10. No complaints except for a bug concerning the System Tray disappearing but it can be fixed by turning on the "Select far corner to show desktop" function
