I have just decided to convert my first VHS and have purchased the same I/O Video Capture Card and have followed your instructions using OBS Software which made the job simple and the end result was perfect. Thank you so much.

Great video! As a response to the trick you explained at the end of the video: There is a feature in OBS, that will end the recording after a specific time. Go to 'tools' at the top, and then press 'Output timer'.

I saw other videos, and this is a converter with good price/quality ratio and plenty of options. Great video

It's the best tutorial, by all accounts. I will try to follow your advice and I am convinced that the result will be exceptional. Greetings from Romania, Europe. A big "like" for you!

You don’t have to use a separate timer. The timer function is in OBS is under the tools at the top. ‘Tools’ then ‘Output Timer’

Awesome video! I have a ton of vhs and 8 mm tapes that I am going to try and copy. I was excited to see they you are local, I live by the AF Academy. If I have any problems it’s good to know your local. Thanks again 😀. I looked on Amazon and they had a newer version and a blue-ray/dvd device. I may just get the newer one just because. I liked how you went step by step, video digitizing for dummies, lol.!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK I could not have done it without your video. I would have been lost without your software settings. I thought the product was defective. I did not realize the device drivers were on the CD. THANKS AGAIN!!!

Instead of stretching the video to 1440x1080 you can set the screen to the same resolution of the capture device by right-clicking on the video output and selecting "Resize output (source size)"

Great video, thanks. Any advice on how to get rid of audio echo? It's only on the recorded part. I've tried to adjust sync offset. When I monitor audio, it sounds fine.

Very helpful video, thank you. Once I convert the vhs to digital on my computer, can I edit them with this program? And can I save them to a flash drive and/or burn them on a dvd?

Mark,
Only short answers needed. Sorry I got wordy.
Have you been around long enough to know Canopus ADVC cards? Installed in computer. Many Window OSs ago. I could plug RCA jacks or firewire into back of computer... I only describe that to ask: #1 is this product the same tech level? I converted all the VHS I have with Canopus. Wondering if I could see if better results with this product -- mostly because I am going to be discarding the VHS and want to try last pass.
#2 question -- what editing software do you use? I've stuck with Pinnacle which edits fine. Can I do better because there can be better image quality with another software, even if saved in the same format? Before I assume and mp4 is an mp4 = x software saves mp4 the same as y software. YOu knoiw, different codecs and things I don't understand or easily forget. :)

Definitely a good capture card - though with your VCR I'd have used S-Video out. I've tried the higher end Sony VCRs like that (believe you have an SLV-R1000 there), but the lack of line TBC in that VCR as there's often significant "tearing" or the upper part of the frame will all be shifted to one side a bit. You can actually see it in this video capture demoed in this video - the top maybe 1/10th of the picture is shifted to the left - pretty easy to see if you look at the small black bar on the left. It's fairly mild here, but can be worse depending on the tape. For some reason the high end Sonys seem to do that worse than any other brand and definitely worse than basic consumer VCRs, or that's been my experience anyway. Happy converting!

This seems a lot easier than the elgato crap which i have just sent back today, with elgato if your pc is not bang up to date with everything it will not work, and trying to download the driver was impossible, i will def be giving this a whirl.
