UPDATE:

Seeing a lot of comments about the DVD Process being unnecessary! While it does work, there are other simplified methods. Here's some info I've gathered:

- Bottom line: You need some device to play your final clean video that will attach to your VCR. So "X device" ----> s-video or composite to VCR. X device = A converter box, a PS3, a Wii, etc.
- You can also do this with a PC: such as an HDMI to RCA converter. Also a PCIe card that outputs S-VIDEO or composite straight to the VCR. I don't like this PC method in general because one time I did it and it produced literal "off-colored" results. But people have sworn by it and I think it's worth a shot.

Back then: How can we improve the quality?
Today: How can we deteriorate the quality?

Ok, all jokes aside. I love it!

I absolutely love how we spent the last 60 years getting image quality better, just to build a rube Goldberg pile of tech, to reverse the process, cuz it makes us feel young again 😂...I mean this as an old man who remembers black and white TV, and my first videobgame was made from radar equipment.

I love how he shows his passion, but still keeps it in skycorp humor. Seeing the bts is actually insane and really makes me appreciate their videos even more.

I figured it couldn't have been a filter. Love that this video is still in the format of a 90s early 00s instructional lol very meta

Even when you explain your behind the scenes process, you can’t help but be your darkly humorous self.

And that’s why we love you.

See I KNEW there was so much effort in achieving that legit VHS look.

Still props to you guys for having the style of editing, camera work, and SFX that is so on point for the era.

Thanks for the tutorial and I hope it helps other YouTube creators out there too!

And I had always thought he was just an actor. He is an amazing writer and editor as well. Too bad the YouTube algorithm has kind of screwed over his channel lately.

This... is... ART. Plus, you're sharing your methods with the community. Joel Haver did something similar with his unique rotoscoping, and in turn, a bunch of new talented creators popped up thanks to him.

I hope you have the same effect. I'm excited to see a bunch of new creators diving into that nostalgic VHS feel. Much respect man.

I had a feeling this was what you were doing. You can tell the difference between a filter and a real VHS. Going that extra mile is real dedication.
