How to Remove Mould from Silicone

A quick video showing how to remove black mould (mold) from bathroom silicone or caulk.

I've been inundated with adverts for this stuff. I was very doubtful it would work like they were showing in the videos, particularly given Zinsser Mould Killer and Remover hadn't worked, so I thought I'd buy a couple of tubes just to expose the gimmick. And then to my complete surprise it did a fantastic job removing all the black mould from my bathroom shower silicone.

So there you go, it really works. This isn't an advert and I'm not profiting in any way from this video, but I like showcasing products that I'm impressed with.

A cheap alternative that works really well is just to soak toilet paper in bleach and press it onto the silicon where you notice mould. It forms a paste and sticks really well so you can leave it over night. It’s never failed for me so far!

My bathtub sealant was looking bad with large area of black mould and after watching this video, I immediately ordered online. Applied yesterday and left it over 3 hours, most of the black mould are removed except some deep pocket ones. I reapplied again on those areas which not completely gone and turned light grayish color. I paid £15 for 2 tubes and nearly finished one for just the bathtub. Overall I am very pleased with the result and my bathtub look very clean now. Thank you for your help and wishing you a happy Christmas.

After seeing this I bought some to try in my bathroom and although in some places it hasn't completely shifted the mould (my sealant was in a very bad way) it's made a massive improvement. It also worked extremely well on grout.

Hope to see a test to compare how quickly mould returns after the "removal" treatment, compared with freshly laid sealant.

Looks great! I've had good results with HG mould spray but the gel consistency of this product looks more convenient.

Is this your shortest video ever? Short but clear, straight to the point.

I recently tried the skill builder bleach and toilet paper method. It worked a treat and I had all the items in the house without buying anything expensive.

Against my better judgement I tried this and it worked great. Not perfect in every place, but i will say that was my application. Really pleased and ordered more. 😁

Worked for me too in the corner of my window. I had tried every product I could think of but this actually worked. P.S my New bathroom fans are working a treat, I installed the vent axia silent ones after watching one of your videos x

I've always used HG mold spray with similar results to this. Amazon & B&Q for around £5.

Hard to praise a product without sounding like you've been paid to do so, but I've just used this stuff on your recommendation and am _very_ chuffed with the immediate results: it's done miracles on a window of mine. My only reservation is that the ingredients list is: surfactants, sodium hypochlorite and a few others, which seems to basically make the product gelatinous bleach, which makes me wonder whether the product is that much more effective than using standard bleach... Even if that's the case, the fact it sticks to surfaces and can be applied upside down is still a massive advantage over liquid and spray alternatives.

Hopefully it'll stand the test of time and the mould will stay at bay.

I've just ordered 2 of these after watching your video. There's an area in my shower that tissue-soaked bleach fails to have any effect on so here's hoping Charlie.

Charlie, thanks for this excellent video. I bought a couple of tubes of this. The main ingredient is sodium hypochlorite, which is bleach. So this product is a gel form of liquid bleach which of course would normally run off raised surfaces. So I have high hopes for this in our bathroom. I may leave it on overnight.

Good stuff, I have two tiny spots in my kitchen and tried everything to get it off.
I will have to search for a local equivalent or see what's the active component in the description.
When I see a tiny mould spot, no matter how tiny it is, it becomes huge in my mind hehehehehe.
Thanks for sharing

Thanks, an honest and practical test. Might need some in our bathroom then. Les

I was sceptical too, but it seems to have worked where others had failed before. Expensive, but it works.
