Literally nobody called him racist for saying rap isn't music, the controversy was because he said some things about defining music which tons of experts in music theory debunked. The original question was simply does he still have that opinion, and Ben's message was that he saw the evidence and no longer thinks rap isn't music, although he still thinks its garbage. The only one who made it about race was the man asking the question and the comments of this video.
