Germany researched paratroopers and France didn’t fix their government so they capitulated

What always got me about the Battle of France, is that French recon aircraft saw the backed-up columns of Germans traversing the Ardennes, and they did absolutely nothing.

The runner who bought the sandwiches in active warzone is probably the funniest moment there was

As an Italian I can say that the whole point of the offenssive on the Alps was to, and I quote directly form our own Foreign Minister of the time, "Get enough deads to sit at the negotiation table, a few thousands should do it".

The Italian Army knew perfectly that they can't penetrate the France defence on the Alps, WW1 teached them, as with anything in all the italian contribution to WW2 the generals advices gets ignored in favour of the ambitions of the fascist government.

Funfact: All the good/competent italian comanders refused to take part of any of the disatrous invasion (i.e. Yugoslavia and Greece) as it would stain their military career with failure, so they did everything so their name wasn't associated with offensives that could tarnish their name

+

The italian armed forces moderniced early and got bankrouped by their 'adventures' in Spain and Ethiopia, so they couldn't spare the money to modernize like Britain, France and even Germany in the years of appeasment

No wonder Italian performance were mediocre at best, they were under equipped, staffed with comanders that acquired their position thanks to political loyalty to the fascists, and were fighting in a war which outcome they couldn't care less

EDITS: typos

13:50 I think you mean the Matilda II. The Cromwell wouldn't enter service until 1944.

23:00 King Albert stayed in Belgium during WW1 as he held on with his army to the very last piece of the country. He personally commanded the Belgian troops during the war and also ordered the opening of various locks on the German coast, thereby flooding parts of Belgium as to give it better defensive grounds.

Genuinely one of, if not the best countryballs/history channel on YouTube. Amazing art and generally enjoyable videos.

You forgot to add that the Belgian surrendered without coordinating or even warning the French and British, and that the British retreat to Dunkirk was done same without coordinating with the French.
