The problem is that when I use “ADHD, ” people think I am lying because I seem calm.

If I use “ADHD, inattentive presentation, ” people are scratching their heads.

Sometimes it’s just easier to say ADD because people go “oh, NOW I get it.”

ADD makes a lot more sense the ADHD without the hyperactivity.

I had the attention deficit. In school, if a kid asked a question of the teacher and I already knew the answer, my brain just shut off and by the time it came back on, I’d missed important information but felt too ashamed to ask because I rolled my eyes at the last kid who asked a question.

It still happens. If I’m not interested in the topic, my brain just turns itself off for a while and I hear none of it.

I say ADD because people get confused when I say Inattentive ADHD because I appear so calm, I say ADD and they understand easily

Lots of misunderstanding about ADHD in the general public. A colleague of mine thought that because I have ADHD, my "behavior" was attributed to trying to GET attention from others! 😕
