Dr. Mike's head is so pumped full of knowledge, it barely fits into the screen

There's obviously confounding variables that get completely ignored. Like how can calorie restriction make you live longer yet you also live longer if you lift weights and do cardio. You're going to have to consume more calories if you exercise.

The latest research shows that skeletal muscle improves longevity, and losing muscle has a greater effect than gaining fat

Longevity and performance become mutually exclusive goals if you want to absolutely maximize them.

If you ever become ill long term, having some extra body weight (~5% above "healthy weight") is actually shown to improve your long term odds. You have less problems later gaining healthy weight back if you go underweight and you can be at a calorie deficit for longer without as many serious effects if you can't keep food down, for example.

Makes sense too for the fact that height higly correlates with maximum age. Smaller people have less body weight too.

The recommended weight for me is capped at 167, but the max (bmi of 25) is 174. I maintain around 170 but my body composition is decent (15% body fat).

Fasting helped me lose 70lbs in a little over a year. I wasn't starving or sickly or anything like that. The method is legit when you're smart about how you do it. I don't understand why there has to be this negativity towards something that can and does help people who will benefit from it.

Happy to hear this. I struggle with fasting

It’s not about the weight itself. It’s about healthy metabolic function and a sufficient amount of tissue conditioning to maintain tissue mass into old age.

You can lift weights and support muscle mass while still getting longevity benefits—you just don’t need to be in a massive surplus all the time. Think of it like fueling with precision rather than excess. It’s all about balance, and you’re already on the right track by being mindful of both!

Need to show people a picture of the optimal body for longevity. It looks like many people in rural areas of developing countries

I often sleep 9 or even ten hours (getting up 1-2 times to pee) but I do feel energized all day. Is there any thing wrong with sleeping this much? Sometimes I’ll even sleep eleven, but the caveat is I am quite active, most days I weightlift 75-90 minutes plus either two decent walks or a cardio session at a separate time.

So I don't understand, what should I do?

But if you feed it with insulin the weight goes up even on a lower cal intake
