great explanation and easy to follow. I always push my light just because I love looking at my tank. Sometimes it will cause more algae.

I got mine at 8 1/2. They seem to "Pray" at that point and I believe that's the point where they don't take in very much more light. (In my system of course)

Hello, what percentages do you keep your blue red white and green at? I am battling overgrowth of algae. I have a fluval aquasky and have sunrise, daylight, sunset and night settings programmed. I never had this much trouble with algae when I used florescent tube lighting. Suggestions? thanks.

So I currently have my aquarium on an opposite schedule than normal. The lights come on when I wake up between 4pm-7pm but then they stay on for about 12hours. Then off again for 12 hrs

I have the Finnex Planted+ 24/7 CC and have it set to be full power by noon and dark by 9 PM, given how the light slowly ramps up, this gives me about 7ish hours of full brightness out of that fixture. I'm also running a Beamswork DA FSPEC alongside it for three hours a day as a "high noon burst", but that is getting replaced very soon with a Fugeray Planted+ because I don't like the spectrum of the Beamswork.

The more important question is how do you correct the damage when the light or timer malfunction while on vacation..?

thank you for this...I like the approach of starting with a lesser amount of light hours daily and slowly increasing it as time goes on...as a beginner to the planted tank hobby I appreciate this advice...and I have found very little on YouTube for this particular subject...and it is nice to know that 6 would be a bare minimum...I was wondering what a good place to start at was...and now I know. I know that there are many other variables to also factor in to the photoperiod per day equation.

I have a 9 watt LED but there are no oxygen bubbles released from the plant or any development in growth, is that a problem
