Just as we need to do hard work to achieve something, so do chicks. They have to struggle to get out of the eggshell, but that's nature's way of making them strong chickens afterward.

I have had to help many chicks hatch! I do it a little bit at a time, and try to have them do most of the work. I had one two months ago that was breach (turned sideways.) She couldn't twist her head inside to even peep. I left her in the incubator 24 hours after the others were all hatched. She called to me every time I checked on her. I finally broke her open. She's doing great now!

When we were new to having chickens, I “helped” a chick that I thought was stuck, I helped him out of the egg, no bleeds at all, however he did develop splay legs and so from then on I’ve vowed to never do that again, and I’m happy to say that dozen and dozens of chicks later I think we only had one that could not fully hatch on its own and it didn’t make it. Sometimes it just happens, we’ve used an incubator and just let our hens hatched their own eggs, and we had one chick under a hen that didn’t make it out of the egg. It is best to just let nature take its course. Because even if you do help, that chick will more than likely have problems.

agreed. And sometimes they die, and that's unfortunate, but this just happens when animals have lots of babies. Some dont make it. A little help is ok, but not too much.

After 24 hours, if he cannot get out of the egg, you must help him, but be careful so that you peel the vent towards the back, not the belly.

Not true. Because they will die if they can t go out. I help them after a 24h and a save them.

Not true, the story about the hormons and shit. Once they peeped, if they are not out after 14 hours, you have to help them if not they will die. It's really stupid to incubate eggs for 3 weeks and loose 10% of them because you would not want to help and save them.

I was a young kid and ofcourse stupid, so I used to help them against my moms advice . She didn't know I was doing it, I just felt terrible watching them struggle, and yes most of them didn't make it

The first little chicken we hatched this year spent hours on coming out every minute and barely rested and there was one chicken 2 years ago that was blind and couldn't get out of the egg (it was two days after the crack started) and we had to help that chicken but it sadly died🕊️🥺😔💕
