The day Windows actually died

This isn't the type of video I commonly produce on this channel. I don't really talk about current topics, but this one I was following too closely to pass by on. The editor budget has been significantly cut (I'm on an Acer Predator in a deep forest camping while editing this). This is the first time an actual Y2K-like scenario happened to us, thanks to CrowdStrike and their null-filled driver.

Hope you have a great day!

This definitely shows how very incompetent tech companies have become over the past decade. They don't care about customers and what they want anymore these days. It has been more at pleasing shareholders than anything else.

The SaaS (Software as a Service) business model that tech companies have been pushing hard for the past decade is flawed. It means no real user control over their products. Instead, they update the product for you automatically, which we all know leads to a lot of the buggy Microsoft Windows updates that we seem to get every month.

These tech companies really need to re-evaluate their software testing practices, especially after this entire mess.

The tech industry is becoming a laughing stock by each passing year.

- "Poorly tested"
- An entire file of just zeroes
That sounds like an understatement

In my city, a lot of flights were cancelled because of this. It's insane how a company as big as Crowdstrike doesn't do their testing properly.

"Hey, Mr. Freeman. I had a bunch of messages for you, but we had a system crash about twenty minutes ago and I'm still trying to find my files. Just one of those days I guess."

ngl, i never trusted kernel level drivers that would protect you from viruses or malware. i understand it has to be done for big corporations, but i always feel like something bad like this could always happen due to human error or an accident

After watching this video, I feel bad for IT professionals, Knowing they can boot in Windows Safe Mode and delete the files that's causing a bootloop.

having kernel level software with BUGS is just incredibly stupid and i dont know why they allow issues like this to be created.

This is an optional software issue, NOT a windows issue. plus it isn't a clock buffer overflow issue

In the UK, CBBC was off-air for more than 2 hours. In the US, several channels including Nick Jr., Nicktoons and TeenNick were off-air at the same time.

I mean, technically Windows' design can be blamed for it, like they could have better roll-back measures or stuff, specially for businesses, but, yeah it's definitely not a microsoft outage. The fact that Crowdstrike doesn't have something like a scaling release it's not a good idea. That's what happened to Cloudflare once with their regex rule. You can't just push to everywhere at once. It's a bad idea.

I have *NOT* seen this anywhere here in the UK, but it's crazy it happened anyway.
