Hello Ladies Gents and the rest of ya! y2k part 2 just happened!! Yayy!!! A cybersecurity company called Crowdstrike had a major oopsies that ended up rendering around a billion windows computers essentially braindead. How do I fix this? Why did it happen? Well that's what we're about to find out.

Honestly I was terrified because I heard "end of the world" my ADHD and anxiety ass went "FUCK NOT NOW, I WANNA LIVE 40 MORE YEARS AT LEAST" then realized it was computers.

Programming is so chaotic that stuff like this will inevitably happen to everyone, though usually not this scale (like when Skyrim modders changed the order of dialogue lines of a minor NPC that has literally no importance except to a side quest that wasn’t even finished so had most of what it was going to be and for some reason it BROKE THE ENTIRE GAME), so it doesn’t really make me think they’re incompetent or anything… but man is that embarrassing for a company with such a history…

It even happened at my job. It affected some things in my store that didn't affect me, including the TV screen that shows ads for my store, who is on the clock, our app on the app stores, and even the browse that hosts my store. The store I work at is a Menards. It didn't affect my automatic scrubber because that uses something else.

I can't believe it, I was affected by this too. Luckily I wasn't in an airport, I was just in my local grocery store, just had to stand 20 min in line (because the self check-outs didn't work) and could only pay in cash.
