I pre-ordered the F-4 and after watching this I know I made the correct choice, I am very excited.

I worked on F-4E's at Seymour Johnson AFB in the 1980's. All of them had the TV camera on the left wing. Miss the Double Ugly!!!!

LS gets hit with AAA "That's fine. That's fine." Jester the Ejector's breathing intensifies... 👀

I appreciated the shot where the AAA was shooting through the orange trees and the trees shook in response to the muzzle blasts. That's amazing detail. 👏🏼 ❤

The F-4 was such a beast, but it also wasn't fuel consumption friendly. Between internal and external tanks, the Phantom could hold about 3000 gallons of fuel, roughly enough to fuel the family station wagon for 10 years. In full AB, you could burn though rather quickly, so pilots made sure to monitor their fuel gauges carefully throughout the flight.

The programmers did an amazing job with this model.

2:15 -- Excellent job from Jester calling the correct callout of "Canopy down, lights out, stripes are aligned."
Now, some additional callouts from the real F-4 days (these are USAF calls...I don't know about the Navy's callouts).
- When the ABs light, the exhaust nozzles swing back to about 1/2-2/3 open, and the engine RPM drops slightly (I saw the nozzle gauges swing back, but no RPM movement). In any case, when the WSO sees the RPM swing with the AB lightoff, he calls "Two good swings."
- When the airspeed indicator needle starts moving (roughly above 30 KIAS), the WSO calls "Off the peg."
- There was no "80 knots" call.
- At 100 KIAS, the WSO calls "100 knots, go for tires". Above 100 KIAS, of you blow a tire, you're committed to taking off. Below 100 KIAS, you aborted for a blown tire.
- After liftoff, the pilot raises the gear and retracts the flaps and slats right away. The WSO will call, "3 up, in and up". That means all 3 gear are up, slats are in and the flaps are up.

BTW, F-4 takeoffs start with the stick full aft. When the nose raises, the pilot then holds that attitude and lets the jet fly off. There is no rotate speed, but we did always compute our Nosewheel Liftoff and Takeoff speeds. With the stick full aft, the nosewheel usually unstuck around 133 KIAS. Liftoff was usually around 165-170 KIAS. This was consistent between F-4Es, Fs, and Gs.

Took DCS long enough to get the F-4. DCS World finally graduated into a modern flightsim. F-4 was the most significant fighter of the 20th Century. How did we do without it for so long?

I flew the F4 in the royal air force before moving to F3s. Beautiful aircraft to flew and this video is an accurate representation

Longshot’s videos always *look* better than other folks. So far, this is the best preview I ever seen graphically other than HB’s own vids.

One of the F-4 squadron Lt Cols way back when was a WSO who got hit by a SA-2. He said everything forward him on the aircraft just vanished. Spent a few years in Hanoi.

I remember a vietnam vet pilot describing the Phantom as an incredibly high performance flying BUS. 🤣

Watched all YT preview vids for this Baby so far and apart from the Heatblur release Vid, this one got me the most excited for jumping into this jet next week!

That engine while taxiing sounds like a terrifying vacuum cleaner.

The camera angles while swiss cheesing that runway were almost cinematic. I felt like I was watching the opening scene in a Top Gun prequel

TRIVIA - Did YOU know that the F-4 has a Smiley Face on its tail?? To troll other fighters - "Heehee! You can't get me!!" 😃 -> 2:26

Something about that video. You can just feel the tension in the Way the bird moves

Now this is how you sell the F4. Great footage, fast paced, dynamic external shots. Just great man!

One of my favorite fighters outside of all past and present fighters. My first model i built vietnam camo colors. Did the ol oodaloo conducted by Olds. Now you fly that thing right without taking damage, or you dont fly it at all. THAT'S AN ORDER! 🤣

Daaaamn, nice!

To be fair, of course it’s hard to attack runways if you line up along them. IRL low level runway attacks were performed at oblique angles to the runway heading precisely because it’d be too obvious were the attacks would be coming from otherwise.
