I was a jet engine mech on the F4E while in the USAF (1974-1977), even had a small scar on my head where I was attacked by a spoiler that jumped out at me. Brings back many memories, not all good, damn that hell hole beneath the engine.

Thank you for this. My father was a hydraulic mechanic for the F-4J Phantom II squadron Fighting Falcons (VF-96) aboard the U.S.S Constellation (CV-64) during Vietnam, apparently the first and only squadron to have an ACE Phantom pilots. (Lieutenant Duke Cunningham and Lieutenant j.g. William P. Driscoll of VF-96 scored their aerial victories becoming the only US Navy aces of the war.) I loved listening to his stories about his service aboard that carrier. Ever since I've been head over heels in LOVE with the beautiful aircraft. This means so much to me, thank you! <3

Ok, you got me! Custom cockpit and the lot, I do believe we have a very nice Phantom while HB is fine-tuning his own plane!
Only missing thing: Vietnam map!!!

Cold start Procedure (found out by trial and error):
1. ground power
2. connect ground air
3. apply ground air
4. left & right generator both on Ext (right horizontal panel)
5. booster pumps left & right (left horizontal panel behind throttle)
6. Left Engine Master Switch On (left horizontal panel on the right of the throttle)
7. Engine Start selector to the Left (same panel), wait for the engine to spool up
8. request again to Apply ground air
9. Right Engine Master Switch On (left horizontal panel on the right of the throttle)
10. Engine Start selector to the Right (same panel), wait for the engine to spool up
11. Set both generator switches to On
12. disconnect ground air & power
13. Set Engine Start selector to Neutral

Good to go!

Fantastic! I was just carpet bombing some jungle on Guam in a VSN thud last night. Gonna DL this as soon as I get home. An EFM and bespoke cockpit in another 1960s plane? I’ll be in heaven. Great video.
