May Quinni soul rest in peace. She had absolute gorgeous art. To think her art was being sold as nfts, her hard work, after her passing away is terrible. How devastating and disgusting is that good artists don't get protection from such thefts or cyberbullying

The sentence "latinos can't be white, they are tan and dark skinned" literally screams that mean girls moment "if you're from Africa why are you white?"
Since I'm latina and white I've heard this more times than I can count....

As an artist, one of many things I hate is when folks think they’ve “fixed” someone else’s work by either race or gender swapping the characters. You’re not doing anything great. That’s narcissism and not creative whatsoever.

The Puss in Boots case really surprised me as a Spaniard. The cat is Spaniard, Spanish from Spain, since is based on Spaniard soldier. And he is, more concrete, sevillan, from Andalucía. You know this for his accent when he speaks. I thought everyone knew this, but it seems many gringos think that Spain is in Mexico, that Spanish is a South America only language when is even talked in Africa and the language comes from... well... Spain, and that the whole South America is just Mexico. It makes me wonder what kind of education gringos have in their schools... It's really worrying...

I've always wondered why art thieves don't feel inspired when they see amazing art and decide to steal it instead. Isn't it the perfect opportunity to try and learn while you're admiring an amazing artist?

Repeat after me kids; Voice actor doesn't equal skin tone.

For any young artists out there thinking of posting their art on twitter: it is very rare for someone to critisize your art like they do in this video. These cases are very rare to happen. ✌️

Qinni was one of the first artists I ever followed. I remember that galaxy girl piece with the blue and purple blush everytime someone mentions her. She was part of the reason I even got into art. I was heartbroken when I heard she had passed. She was an amazing artist

I don't get why people find it so hard to understand, NOT EVERYONE WHOS SPANISH HAS DARKER/TAN SKIN. A lot of Spanish people have lighter skin. People are conflicting Spanish people from Spain with Spanish people from Puerto Rico etc. There are more tanned/darker people in south America than they are in Spain, and EVEN THEN you can't just equate Spanish = tanned skin, that's so dumb.

The forensic artist and her story were so amazing. I’m happy to have learned about that today in the middle of regular art drama. Thank you!

I LOVE that Puss in Boots fanart, it's an incredibly good interpretation of the character and it bothers me that a lot of people knee-jerk assume that being Spanish or Latino automatically means dark skin. I'm far from an expert myself as I'm neither of those things to my knowledge and it's not my place to speak on behalf of those communities, but if I'm not mistaken, a good adjacent example of this would be Dib and Gaz from Invader Zim, who as far as I'm aware are/were intended to be light-skinned Mexicans to reflect the creator, Jhonen Vasquez, but are generally assumed to be white simply because of their skin color. It's really unfortunate honestly

Just a quick note about Qinni: her name is pronounced "chi-nii", like Qi being Chi. I remember her explaining this before she passed

I've been there before where people got angry at me for not making my black character look black enough when I was using a pastel/almost neon palette. Honestly made me never want to try and paint another darker skined character again. Its ridiculous how angry people get over that when I just want to create fanart for said characters and colors are hard sometimes

This is kind of why I am happy about being a creature artist. You do not get called out for a dinosaur not having the right skin color. It is scary to think that you might get hate comments because someone does not like the skin color of the painting you posted.

People forgot that Spain, Portugal, Brittain, and France used to be avid country collectors, spreading their language and culture like soft butter over other whatever country they can. This is how there are so many English, Spanish, French, and Portugal speakers around the globe. Mexico used to be conquered by Spain so it's no surprise they speak that language, but that doesn't mean they are the only speakers😭

I just want to say that the first image (Puss in Boots) is really impressive. The artist captures all the iconic parts of Puss and managed to translate them into human form. Even without the screencap from the film in the corner, I’d immediately recognize this character as Puss in Boots, despite him being a completely different species. Amazing!!

I remember a few years ago I drew Michael Jackson through different eras, like as a child, a teen, his thriller era and his bad era, and of course someone ignorant told me “why did you draw Michael white?” Obviously pointing out how light his skin was during the bad era I told her”that’s what his skin looked like during part of his life.” She told me I was “racist” for white washing him, I told her if anyone is racist it’s her, he had a skin disorder called Vitiligo, and how growing up I had a friend who had it and she was made fun of for having it, people are either stupid or ignorant and I feel they enjoy being ignorant. I love Michael Jackson and the fact people change peoples art is truly disrespectful.

I love being screamed by a random person online about any cultural knowledge when they themselves are the most likely stereotyping the characters and had no idea what the culture was like. We are in the internal hell for artists 😊
