There are 2 feelings that I always feel everytime seeing art community:
1. Wow I'm sad my art cannot be famous in the art community. Shall I start to promote myself more?
2. Wow I'm glad my art not famous in the community. I don't want any dramas related to thievery nor hate comments lol

Art community is toxic I dealt with people telling me to quit and told I am 13 yet I am 28 went back to art in 3 years ago. Plus I am glad I didn't give up despite its very easy to do that.

i actually dont flip my canvases, not because i didnt know it was helpful—i’ve known it is for awhile—but because i see no reason to. if im happy with how my art looks, cool! it’s done! and i worry that if i started doing that, i’d get into a habit of trying to make it the most perfect image, flipped or not. anyway nice video i love the way you do lineart!! hope youre having a good day today!!

i just went from “babe wake up new Mohammed Agbadi vid” to having my heart skip a beat at the shoutout— to hear that someone i look up to that much even knows who i am absolutely demolished me, but hearing that you actually enjoy my content legit made me cry ;; you’ve always been a massive inspiration to me and i love both your art and content so much, and i’m so honoured rn i dont even know what to say— thank you so much!! fantastic video as well - i actually shared the hot take that beginner artists shouldn’t get so mad at getting vague advice from vague questions, but you completely changed my mind on that. the onus should be on the expert being asked to explain what questions the beginner should be asking, not on the beginner to know what questions to ask when they, , , have no way to do that lmao 😂 thanks for opening up my admittedly harsh perspective on that!!

Something that really bothers me personally is how abstract art is treated.
I do abstract painting myself, it helps me to understand my own emotions and cope with situations, and it kills me when I hear someone say "You're not a real artist.". Think what you will of the skill of abstract artists, but for the love of god don't tell them their art isn't real. You don't know why we do what we do, we hardly know either, and our paintings or sketches are like a tree full of carbon y'know? Chop it down, you kill the tree, and poison the atmosphere.

My problem is that a lot of people seem to think that what a person likes in fiction is a indicator of what the person likes IRL, so if you draw things be them SFW or NSFW, people will start harassing you and calling you the most horrible things all because of what you like.

For the improvement one, I improve for myself. This isn't towards any real goals or anything, I just want to be able to draw things I like. For example, no one is going to draw my OCs doing things, so I must learn how to draw the thing I want to see them doing (if that makes sense).

I'm so glad that I've kept to the "good" side of the art community my whole life. While I did get some negative comments when I was first stsrting out, most people were being nice. That, however was 3 years ago.
It makes me sad to see how hard people are on beginner artists. How hard is it to be nice? Instead of hating on them, how about giving them tips, to help them improve? how hard is that

The toxicity caused me to give up on art for, like, 8 years. I hate that I missed out on 8 years of practice, but I feel like I would’ve been crushed if I kept pursuing art as a teenager. I have a lot more of a growth mindset now and I hope I can make up for that lost time.

I resonate so much with "artists are constantly chasing an art style and want to get into the industry immediately." When you said artists should be allowed to enjoy art on the side and as a way to relax. I love creating things and making art, but I don't know how I want to continue with it in the scope of my life goals. I've tried the art side hustle, I've gone to school for art, and I've gotten bachelor of fine arts degrees, but I am having such a hard time pursuing art as a career. The ingrained "starving artist" beliefs are so hard to undo, and dealing with rejection is especially difficult for me. I would love to work on creative projects for a living, but it's not realistic for everyone that wants to do it.
Currently I work in food service since that was the first place that got back to me when I applied for jobs. I know it's a privilege to be promoted to management and have decent pay, but the job comes with physical pain from standing, constantly changing hours/schedules, and so much mental strain. Art is what keeps me sane. I can't push the stress of making art my job on the only thing that comforts me right now, so I'm glad that you're trying to normalize that all artists have their own reasons for making art and their own pace for improving.

I went through the twitter account of the girl who “fixed” the Scooby art, and it was really disgusting. Everything on her page was just her really bigoted views disguised as “minority representation, ” with her saying that men should never draw anything as we only make bigoted, “incelish” art, being racist, and still victimizing herself, acting like we’re the bigots.

As a NSFW artist on twitter, I've experienced nearly ZERO bullying/hate. On my old Instagram where I had SFW art however, hate comments and "cancel attempts" were the norm. Maybe it might just be my experience, but I suspect its because the NSFW community is an adult only space, where people aren't there to hate. Just to get horny lol. Whereas Instagram and tiktok are full of 13-year-olds who wanna feel special and start drama. Thats not to say adults cant be toxic too, but it's just my personal experience as an artist on the internet.

Yesterday I found a twitter acount that was really wholesome, the guy would give compliments to a lot of diferent artists, beginner or not. These kinds of people make me have a little more fate in this community and in social media in general. Hope there's more people like him around.
