My biggest pet peeve about the art community is the large amount of people making fun of and putting down beginner artists. Personally, I love seeing the work of beginner artists and my favourite part is telling them how good they're doing! I love building up beginner artists in the way that I wish others had done for me when I was a beginner!

Everytime I see comments similar to 4:52 to female artists, gamers, singers, and content creators I watch, I can't help but roll my eyes so far back in my head.

There really are people out there (mostly men) who can't process the fact that there are people who actually follow women because we admire their skills, their entertaining personality, and sense of humor. Not everyone dismisses someone's value based on their "hotness" like you, mister...

The gatekeeping was heavy when I was growing up as a kid. People discouraged using references which now I’m like if I knew then what I know now about references I would have been a lot better by now.

I'm glad you made this video, and I'm glad for the artists you will help with this (sadly I'm not in that demographic as an older artist haha.) Let me just say, these days, and online especially, there's a culture of anti-intellectualism and lack of critical thinking in favor of gut reactions and closed-minded responses. It's a huge societal problem, especially/even with adults. I do hope the younger generations learn to be more open minded and open to learning because being toxic while being ignorant helps no one. Not the bully, not the bullied, no one. We should all help each other grow and make progress, not regress, because there's a version of the future where everyone is happy.

I have another problem: the community’s obsession with diversity and representation to a degree that they harass artists who draw sexy women or draw mostly white women. Like, what the hell’s your problem? You can’t tell other artists what they can or cannot draw, damn it!

As a composer, I encourage all creatives to recognize and maintain the environment which best allows them to grow and thrive. There are a lot of distractions out there so finding your personal haven is essential! Best wishes, everyone!

As a consumer of art content in video format, while I work, I can confirm that I often find myself closing videos that don have narration. Artists that choose to stay private are really in a disadvantaged position. Even those with really amazing art styles.

Also it’s really gross how people talk to artists these days either saying comments like that one guy did to you which sounds like he sexualizes women in general. You are incredible at what you do and the media you help create is and looks great!

I agree that sometimes it's better to learn from someone a few steps ahead rather than someone who is advanced. Plus, teaching something is a great way to improve on what you've learned. We should definitely encourage beginners!

I have almost fell into the trap of having an unhealthy lifestyle while drawing, thankfully I noticed this early as I started taking care of myself better. Which made it more fun to draw as well :D

Yes! The art school I go to there's a art teacher that keeps getting mad when students dont know how to draw realism right away. The students will understand body and what not but actually drawing it is a different story. It almost makes me wanna quit a couple of times cause of them.

When it comes to amateur advice, I very much agree. Even when it comes to Watching your videos. Watching your opinions change between your older videos to now kind of brought me deeper into your mindset towards the industry and makes me feel like I understand your advice better. I don't know if what I just said makes any sense, but the point is I like your stuff.

Thank you for talking about the unhealthy lifestyle aspect!!! ❤Art students are really out here flexing the fact that they’re sleep deprived, it’s not okay 😭 And same with treating individuals nicely or poorly based on their art skill levels…it’s so toxic and embarrassing. absolutely agree with all!!! the last one reminds me of when i was 12 and posted my art then a grown man attacked me for not being good enough and tbh it put me off art for ages 💀

I always look forward to your videos! I love what you had to say about how it’s ok for inexperienced artists to post tutorials and share what they’ve learned. That’s not a topic commonly spoken of, and I totally agree!
