I am taking this specialization now. I was trained on MLP way back in grad school. They used to put heavy emphasis on the math when teaching NN to the point we could derive the backpropagation algorithm down to the update equations. Then, we had to write our own MLP with backpropagation code in C. Knowing all these, I still learn a lot of new stuff from Andrew, such as how to detect and prevent overfitting and underfitting, regularization strategies, etc. I also look forward to learning newer archiectures covered in Course 4 and 5. I highly recommend this specialization.
