A Strong modified arctic front brought impressive rates of snowfall to downtown Seattle. Snow covered interstate 5 in no time, and many vehicles were seen slid off the road. Within this package are shots from downtown of Pike Place Market, some stuck vehicles off the road, plows, heavy snow.

Shot list.

0:00-0:08 A wide shot of the Public Market sign with falling snow at Pike Place Market.

0:08-0:19 A firetruck with it's lights and siren on driving down the street in front of Pike Place Market with falling snow.

0:19-0:27 A zoomed in shot of the public market sign with snow.

0:27-0:34 A vehicle that had slid off of i-5.

0:34-0:40 A shot of the other Public Market Center sign at Pike Place.

0:40-0:47 A scene of the Space Needle. Yes, you can faintly see the space needle through the snow. It is normally easily visible at this location even with snow. This snow was very heavy.

0:47-0:59 Driving on i-5 with compact snow and ice and heavy falling snow.

0:59-1:11 Driving down Mercer Street, some narration in the background.

1:11-1:18 Car slid off the road.

1:18-1:29 Driving down i-5 with heavy snow, traffic.

1:29-1:39 Man cleaning snow off his vehicle.

1:39-1:48 Another scene driving through heavy snow.

1:48-1:58 Snow plow shot, heavy snow.

1:58-2:09 Snow falling in down town Everett.

I grew up near Pullman and learning to drive in snow was just a normal part of life. In 1985, I moved to Seattle, and went through a few of these events during my fifteen years there. I was stunned to see an entire city shut down because of a little snow. But I slowly came to realize that snow on the West Side is so rare, that they have little or no budget for snow removal. And I learned to give the locals a pass, because they just don't have the experience of driving in those conditions. Also learned to stay off the roads during those times, because somebody was bound to lose control and crash into you!
My favorite one was right around Christmas one year, and it started snowing heavily in the afternoon and didn't stop. I caught a ride up to 45th with a co-worker and had to walk because most of the buses had just quit trying. Walking down 45th toward the U-district, there was a few minutes of really intense thunder and lightning! In a snow storm. Wacky weather there, sometimes. I wonder if they are still sledding down the Counterbalance.

Is it 11-26-21 or 12-26-21? Need to change your title.

The month needs to be corrected to reflect December instead of November 2021.

Former Seattleite, now living in Sedro Woolley. We have almost a foot of snow here, and its 18 degrees. I live on a steep hill, much like Queen Anne where i used to live. No way would I drive in this!

Seattle snow is terrifying for them. Hills, bad tires, etc.

This video is of downtown Seattle and the urban core. The outlying areas have 8-20 inches. If you live here, you know the weather can be totally different within the span of a few miles.

All the hills in downtown Seattle are a mess when icy. Lots of snow used to be common in the 70s .

Remember just a few years ago maybe 2018 Seattle got about 18” over a week or so. Remember last winter in the mid west? Always be prepared

One common comment no matter where the snow is, "I am from (?) and we know how to drive there, when I moved here nobody can drive in snow". I read these comments on the west coast, the Rockies states, the north east, the mid west, and the south.
Everybody always drives better in the snow in another part of the country, even though the videos from all over the country shows the exact same thing, people driving in the snow the exact same way, but they have to all be transplants right?

I saw a senior citizen a few days ago trying to walk on the snow covered sidewalk with his walker. I was pulling over to help him and the guy in front of me pulled over and helped him out. Made me feel like there just might be hope for my poor city, if only for a short few hours.

Get prepared with heat back-up, food, water & medicine for you & your animals. Don't leave pets outside. Look for strays & take them in.

And wow did that happen quickly, with no vehicles on the road to keep it slushy. I was outside during the better part of it. Just sort of dumped.
