I was a dedicated mountain biker for 20 years.
I lived for it.
Then, the price of new bikes and the whole “we are cooler than anyone else” scene killed the desire.
Adventure riding saved me.
Still get to work on a machine, still get to plan rides and still get to head out into the back country.
Uphills don’t suck anymore either.
Never looked back.

I just started adventure riding 30 years after I quit dirt riding. Feel like a kid again. I’m only 63 😊

61 and buying another bike soon. Had enough work so time to look forward to each next adventure in the coming years.

I’ll ride a plated dirt bike as long as possible. Going on 30 years of riding, on and off-road. I’ve retired from the street; just too many people dying. I love the idea of “small bike, big adventure.”

Live in the city - Grew up on Dirt and Street.

Adv Riding gets me out of the pressures of life and gives me headspace time to find who I am again. It recharges my soul batteries. It lets me dream, in the dream Ive been looking forward to. It is hope.

I believe the biggest reason for boom in Adventure riding is awareness. There is so much information now. With channels like this and other countless youtube adventures. And places like Butler maps/Klim etc, creating Back country routes across the United States. Even a few years ago, I had no idea what Big Red was. Now riding the Simpson Desert is a bucket list ride.

I've decided that I need some adventure in my life. I'm only 25 years old, but my little 250 is all I need to make me happy

The bikes I like are those I can go down most roads or tracks on, can carry a bit of gear, have an upright riding position with a little bit of comfort, have long service intervals and easy maintenance, and come with the bare minimum electronics. I like to turn ABS off if a bike has it, at least on the rear wheel. I don't need eleventy-one riding modes. The "adventure" label doesn't make it an adventure. That's up to each of us to do if for ourselves, whatever bike we're on. Good video.

The experience of riding in the rural nature with a couple of friends, a campfire, some mud, good jokes and quality time away from home and the problems. It does it for me.
When I am not riding, I read and watch videos about riding. I check for bargains on parts and then I ride again.

Sometimes I talk to my wife... :)

I ride a KLR because it’s a bike I can get to my camp on over about 5 miles of dirt roads in the mountains of PA. I wouldn’t dare taking my super Duke on those roads. At 73 I can’t get too adventurous!

I’m a 48 year old dirt biker who recently bought a dual sport . What you said was spot on in my case. Thanks for the look into my future 👍

Excellent advise and life planning for those who seek to see not only the world but the country side. Ride as long as you can.

I love the philosophical nature of this channel. There is value in asking why we do things, particularly things we do for emotional reasons.

The anxiety on the street became unbearable, 5 street bikes since '76 ... Love the off pavement as it's a new scene and scares the crap outta me that's why I like it. From sunny ZA

I ride dual sport because I simply never get tired of seeing a place I've never seen before or a road I haven't been on, even if it's just on the opposite side of the valley I just rode through. Lots to see here in the Southwest U.S., and no better way to see it than from the back of a bike.

Been riding for 46 years, mostly dual sports and dirt bikes. Had one street bike and two adv bikes and just picked up my first euro bike, a ktm 690. Can't wait to get back to dual sporting/adventure riding.😊
