Thank you so much. Not only is my hot water tank no longer a mystery but I can now have a bath. it is very kind of you to do these videos and you are a good teacher.

Brilliant! Many thanks. Before seeing your video I had spent the best part of an hour trying to work out which tap to turn off, assuming it would be on a pipe that felt warm. Once I'd seen you show that it was the downward pipe from the attic, it worked straight away.

have to say this helped loads - was about to drain system - but thanks to this I managed to search out the cold water feed - made the job so easy - (another failed push in fix replaced by a reliable compression fitting!!!) -

Thanks for the simple explanation. I need to turn off the hot water to replace a leaking valve that's feeding a washing machine (an old machine with both hot and cold feed).

Thanks for the reply. I found the 3rd handle. I opened them all and the pressure is back to normal and the water is hot again. I'll have a professional have a look. Thanks again.

So, crucially, will isolating the cold supply to the tank create a sufficient vacuum to be able to drain hot water pipes and work on taps?

Very clearly explained. I have followed the instructions and all hot water taps now shut off except the one in the cloakroom, which is the one I want to change. What have I missed?

Use an adjustable spanner or a pair of grips to open and close your valve. Making sure you don't ruin the shape of the valve end. If you do your new handle will slip when turning then you are worse of when you started.

I'm currently facing a issue with which red handle to switch off, there are two one on each side one of them goes in the back of the system. If I was to assume that the one leading from the cold water system to the hot water was the right one could I possibly do any damage to the hot water system itself? Will it explode if I move the wrong one?

My water is getting too hot and a plumber came and replaced the tank thermostat but it hasn't made any difference. Can you explain how the thermostat actually works please. He says I need a new 3 way valve-is that right? If the thermostat activated this valve why doesn't the actuator turn when the thermostat switches off? I have a conventional oil boiler and radiators.

Hi,
The video is great. I looked at your video but I have the same type boiler but I can not find the spinning thing to turn the hot water off. If you have any idea or if you want me to send a picture of my boiler please let me know. Any suggestion will be highly appreciated!
Thanks.

Hi I changed my heating pump. I also had to change my micron 30ff pcb as it had the software error. Ever since my pump has constantly been running now I'm not sure how it was before with the old pump but noticed the thermostat on the cylinder was t 65 now turned it down to 50 and all is good again. Pump shuts on and off as it should. But my question is why can't it go any higher, is this because pump is not fast enough or rads on to high when balancing so it's stealing all the heat?? I'm happy at 50 and same as niebours now as they have same house and setup. Thanks for help. Oh it's a new grundfos pump. On setting 2 . Old one was a wilo gold 50

hi. I have a similar system to the video, however there are 3 valves in the cupboard. Two of the valves look like the one in the video ( red circular tap handle), the third is also red, but is straight, about 6 inches long. Should I turn all three off to turn off the hot water?

Hi there. I had an issue a few months ago where the pressure of the shower dropped and ultimately stopped working. The plumber that came out to fix it said that simply, the red round handle had been closed. Still don't know how that happened. Anyway, the pressure is dropping again and the shower is cold. I checked the airing cupboard and i can see 2 red round handles. 1 is coming from the loft and 1 is next to the big tank thing. They're both closed off. Is this right or should i open them up? Thanks in advance.
I have a pump added to to system after having a new bathroom fitted.

very disappointing.  All I want to do is turn off the hot water supply so that I can change a mixer tap in the kitchen.  A very basic question. This is barely addressed in this series of vids other than a vague description of the immersion heater piping which in this example is conveniently labelled.  Mine isn't as I'm sure others won't be and there is no obvious cold inlet at the bottom.  Should have spent more time on possible variations for different heaters, instead of the irrelevant stuff in the kitchen vid about filters etc.
