He also talked a lot about addiction, but presented it as more something from his past. I guess it goes to the point you never really know what's going on behind closed doors.

He didn’t divorce her. He went to rehab and then messed around, got Olivia pregnant and then left his wife. He got out of rehab in February and had a baby 9 months later. He announced the end of his marriage 3 months after he knocked up Olivia.

I’m glad we’re all siding with Anna Marie. John is a funny guy, but the way he would deliver his jokes about Anna Marie was as if he was trying to make her the bad guy and would try to manipulate others thinking it was fine. He would say he loves her so much that he wouldn’t have kids with her. Does that mean he banged Olivia because he doesn’t love her? Makes no sense at all!

he probably cheated on Anna Marie the entire relationship, and saw a wonderful toxic future based on insanity with a less grounded woman. He looks like the type who would resent being grounded to earth by someone who actually cares about him. Addicts are often emotionally unavailable. Drugs replace they ability to connect to themselves and others. I have had addictive tendencies, not to drugs, but to certain people, which can be just as damaging. And holy crap, when you meet someone who makes that inner junkie come out to play… it can be hard to say no.
