Pla could deform ig it gets hot inside a car or something alike.

But the main thing is plastics can degrade in sunlight.
Like a space heater with the plastic casing can get so brittle that you can crumble it by hand just sitting behind a window.
However this process takes years.
Besides you got a printer just print a replacement if they do hehe

I made some letters out of PLA. (1mm thick solid) I used 4 different colors, Orange, Green, Blue, and Pink, all being the same brand and all of them reacted to black light and glowed. All sets were outside for around 6 months on the north side of my house. After that time the sun had bleached the orange and all the other colors were fine. Bleached to the point where it looked white. The Orange and Green letters were clipped to some stainless steel, and the other two screwed to some plywood. The orange and green set was taken down but the blue and pink are still outside, we'll see how they do through a summer.

Where are you located the pla in the sun on a hot summer day will be malleable soft bendy when used especially to hold body weight, in a car on a hot summer day it will deform without the pressure just gravity

I’ve printed car parts in pla and they are lasting just fine! Also I live in Canada where it’s salt festival in winter and they are just fine degradation happens on a large timescale and by that time you can reprint them soooo🤷🏻‍♂️

Pla is like ice, it will melt on normal temperature. Just needs a little sun

Hi mate, I really appreciate this video - exactly what I was looking for. I am considering ABS for a product we are making for outdoor use and would love to know an update on how it’s held up after outdoor/UV exposure to date? Has it degraded and if so, just by colour or? Thanks again, extremely appreciated.

I've had dog poop look the same for weeks. But give it a few years, and not only does the color fade, but the whole poop is gone!!

So, maybe 1 month of outdoor testing is a few years or decades too short..

I printed a double line cart to feed my chickens from 1st floor balcony and it didn't warp or break from the sun, rain or mechanical stress

PLA doesn’t melt till something like 160C. But it starts to act like a wet noodle by around 65C…. Not melt, but it loses its mechanical characteristics

That's not typical for PLA AT ALL. 😊

Is the surface temperature 90? Looks pretty shaded.

temp in many parts of the world reach way beyond 90.. I am from rajasthan so 90 isn't that hot in my words

UV takes time to work. Give them 6 months. An endurance of 6 months is very poor for any useful tool.

Some filaments will degrade faster ver time though

If you put that is a 100 degree in the hot sun different story.

Yeah you did it wrong.. hang on it in the 90 degree sun for like a hour see how that works. Solid no load blocks aren't going to "sag" without load or like 150 in car temps.
