A man and his masterpiece. One log a time and one vlog at a time he shares this journey with us all. And shoots and shares amazing footage of the wilderness and it's beauty that some of us can only dream of and long for. I am truly grateful for all you do and share Shawn. You are an inspiring man to say the least. I'm absolutely captivated by your videos and always enjoy every second. Thank you 🙏 be well.

What impresses me, here, is no matter how much snow is there or how cold it might be, the work goes on. I come from a place a few hundred miles south from where Shawn is working. When the snow crunches under your feet and blows like powder in the breeze. IT IS COLD, well below freezing. I, myself would be hiding, in a warm place, waiting for spring and warmer weather.
This, fellow subscribers, is the example of WORK ETHIC, which is sadly lacking in many of us today.

My dad once told me, "live up to my name Bob, Add another L and an E to the end, and this is what you should do every day of your life, everything well done". He set the example in that and it is what I have tried to do, all of my 75 years.
Shawn is a shining example of "everything well done" You go Shawn. ;-)

The only guy I've ever seen take on a project and NOT swear! 🤣 Seriously though, such a pleasure to see your work, to hear your thoughts, and to live vicariously through you.

Thanks for welcoming us back to the cabin in 2022 - I hope this year will be the year for you to get your wildernesses homestead to the point of feeling like home. As ways, give Cali a pat and a hug, she works hard as the building site foreman.

A suggestion about heating the boots up, and drying them out some, 1 1/2 to 2" stones. Fill a #10 can with them, put it on the stove to heat up, then shake them into each boot, stuff a wool sock on top of them to keep heat in a little while longer. Do this on the last fill-up of the woodstove, before you finally get up in the morning. They will be nice and warm.

Look what he does each and every day. Removing snow getting a fire going and then working all day to move along on his homestead. He really works his hear out. Eventually he’ll have a grand ole home. I can’t miss any of your episodes, your such a inspiration to others.

Yay! My “dream” has returned again! You took me away to a very calm place thru the Pandemic. Your workmanship is unreal, your etiquette is appreciated, your land thru the forest is mesmerizing! “Oh, Canada…” you are so beautiful too! Wonderful places, sights, peoples, traditions and cultures…but there’s nothing as close to heaven, as a cabin in the mountains. Thank you for sharing a tender piece of your heart, with all of us, who only dream sweet dreams of this. xoRPxo ps…So Blessed!

I was a a bit concerned for a while when I didn't see Cali. Then, she finally showed up. Whew! I am so glad she is doing just fine. Your cabin is coming along beautifully. No shortage of things to do with all you have planned. Looking forward to seeing it all come together and your wife finally being able to join you once again.

It's really great and it's a pleasure to watch you build the log cabin in the traditional way. Few take the time and not least the effort to do this today. It is extremely labor intensive and takes a long time. One can really understand what the settlers went through. We do not have/did not have quite the same context in Scandinavia, but there were homesteads in the wilderness where people mostly managed themselves up to relatively modern times. In Lillehammer in Norway, they have a museum of cultural history where there are examples that have great similarities with your cabin. Some of them are from the 1600-1700s, but also some from the 1800s. At that time, ore pine was used and these logs really can withstand the test of time with proper maintenance. The oldest stave churches in Norway have such logs and they are from the 12th century.
