I left the big city of Toronto to move onto 40-acres of Canadian wilderness with a magical river. I am building an off-grid homestead with multiple log cabins and structures from the timber on the land.

To all my subscribers, STRENGTH AND HONOUR! 🫡🤝⚡️🐺🌲

Clearly 853 of us are watching you intently on this journey and it’s only 7:00 a.m. does anybody else set their alarm for 5:57 a.m. on a Saturday (need a few minutes to pee and then go make my coffee before the video posts).😂

You should consider building some gutters on your roof, to collect the rainwater, and burrow a big rainwater tank, so you can use it as a flush for your future toilet, shower water, and whatever…

Those are rowan berries! Interestingly, farmers in northern Sweden often say, 'The rowan tree only bears one burden a year, ' which means that a lot of rowan berries indicate a winter with little snow.

Ser James, I'm in big trouble with my fiancée. I stumbled across your videos about 10 days ago because of my love for homesteads! I've watched all 34 episodes and roughly 28 hours of amazing content in such a short amount of time! Your journey so far has been inspiring and i look forward to your next videos! Love from the UK

Can’t believe we are so far in already! I’m a dude from the UK who will never build a cabin, stumbled on your videos and stayed for your journey. Honestly some of the best YouTube going. Absolutely love it.

James, your level of competence is soaring, you went from a decent rating to a competent one. Great job on the door and the oakum, filming is outstanding, you are growing, continued success.

Something to consider...the gable end window on the loft side should be big enough for you to get out of in case of fire. The stove will be down stairs which is the most likely location of potential fire, you may not be able to get down from the loft. Just some food for thought. @wild homestead

The berry tree is a mountain ash. Also called a rowen tree. Lots of symbolism around that tree.

I can’t believe you’re coming up to one year at your beautiful property and seeing how far you’ve come. I have been here since the beginning and have enjoyed every minute of your episodes. Moving from the city to the north, there’s something about going one full year, experiencing each season once. It’s like you become wiser and wiser to this way of living. There is simply nothing better than living in solitude. I’m so glad you have shared your journey, it’s truly entertaining.
