One of the most shocking things about the Persians is how quickly they went from an obscure, powerless, and nomadic tribe to an immense empire that spanned across western Asia, Africa, and parts of Europe. The rise of Cyrus the Great, considered the father of Persia, in the 7th century BCE, filled the power vacuum caused by the fall of the Assyrians, and it led to the formation of one of the most powerful empires of the ancient world.

Finally someone who is not biased. We don't say we are the greatest but we are at least in top 3 civilizations because compared to their times they were very merciful

It just makes sense that all science and philosophy that we think we got from the Greeks, it really was originated in Persia, or even before. The Greeks just collected the advances from persian intellectuals and then survived them. It just makes sense, considering the sizes of both groups (i.e.: Athens: 150k. Babilonia: 300K.Persia: 30M), and also the fact that a most of Greek empirical/logical science came from Ionia, which was Persia.

To start I was also taught Persians were evil and bad and Greece was good. But after reading the Bible (I’m Orthodox), the Persians are glorified and there is no mention of Greece/Hellas.

So I started studying history objectively, one big propaganda is that Greece was unified, this is not true Spartans hated other city states as much as they hated Persians. There was no Hellas only city states who acted as independent kingdoms. Even Alexander massacred Greek civilians and completely destroyed Thebes for those very reasons. Our real Greek unity came during the Byzantine empire. So the idea of Persia vs Hellas, east vs west or good vs evil is simply not true.

Another thing that is not mentioned is that many Greek cities sought help from Persia, when fighting against other city states. No mention of how Amyntas king of Macedonia worked with the Persians etc.

Also the numbers are extremely exaggerated 300 vs 10000 or 1 million simply is not true.

And there is no mention that Spartans were actually extremely cruel and barbaric, killing babies and children who showed weakness etc. Other Greek city states viewed Spartans as barbarians. Alexander the Great hated them.

there is mention of Persia burning Athens, but very little background to actually what happened such as Athenians burning Sardis. Yet even after the burning, Athens is still intact. That cannot be said about Persepolis or Sardis for that matter.

No mention of how Alexander viewed Cyrus the great with awe and admiration.
Ancient history is fascinating but unfortunately many western historians, politicians and Hollywood due to political reasons or various agendas are using it to portray Iranians as evil and Greeks/west as heroes which is not true. I feel like our whole Ancient Greek history as been hijacked and turned into a colossal hoax, to prove that “Europeans” were always ahead. Personally I think it is wrong to distort history like that. It is the same thing Turkey is doing, even though it is a fact that by dna most Turks are actually Greek but have been turkified. Anyway by modern standards Persia was far ahead everyone incl. ancient Greece in terms of religious freedom (the Jews loved Persia) human rights, women rights, labor rights etc.

I don’t think Zack Snider will buy your book! He is working on the sequel to his movie 300 and he needs anti-Persian sentiments in order to sell more at the box office.

If the Greek civilization was the reasoning behind the mind/ego; the Iranian civilization was IT’S heart & soul!

The amount of freedom Persians gave to their subjects, finally led to their downfall, Persians did not enforce their culture on others unlike Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Turks and many more.
The Persianisation of others nations throughout history occured mainely by persian high literature.

I was really into researching the Mede & Persian Empire when I was in my teens, and it fascinated me then and still does to this day. It's also why I ABSOLUTELY hated the "300" movie because of inaccuracies (and it was also crap).
I think more information could have been given on Cyaxares, who got the whole ball rolling. If it wasn't for that goat herder from the mountains, the Medes would never have defeated Assyria & the Scythians (interestingly, copying the Scythians - using the tactics the Mongols later employed - Be lighter and faster, and use hit & run). Admittedly, Cyaxares was pretty brutal compared to Cyrus, but by then the groundwork for the Persian Empire had been laid.
Also worth noting that it's been suggested that the 3 Wise Men from a certain religious story were actually Magi, who were Persian I wasn't there so can't confirm it.
