I recommend listening to Dan Carlin's podacst King of Kings if you want a complete story of what was going on back in Mesopotamia back then and when medes and persians came to power the guy only release a chapter every 6 months or so.

Interesting - Persians once freed jews but now they are worst enemies to each other. Persian Empire was so open to any religion or culture however now Iran has become so strict and closed. I really wonder when did the turn point happen? And why?

Iran was called Persia until 1935, when the Shah of Iran changed it.
Since Iran once used to be a superpower, this might be why it still poses a challenge;
Iranians are accustomed to being rulers, so they have a certain mindset. The conflict with them in the Middle East will not stop anytime soon.
