when this gets incorporated into games, they'll be so exciting to play. i think the randomness/unexpectedness will add a lot to the experience

I am sure this concept could be used for other animations as well.. reaching for an item, dodging, jumping, rolling, climbing... neural nets are so cool, lol.

You said most game developers, not all. *proceeds to make game with neural animation*

That looked SO good! I'm looking forward to playing with something like that.

Well it'll save Animation Movies some time if there characters do the movements for them .

Aaaaand in ten years, many animators jobs are gone as well.

Someone needs to make a game with this

Most of the information in this video is wrong. The AI didn't learned to walk by itself, what it does is that it finds a mocap animation previously loaded that matches the movement the player wants to do, so for example if I hit W it knows that the character is going to be 2 meters forward in a second so it looks for an animation that moves 2 meters in a second, and applies it to the character.
It doesn't generate animations, the developers make a lot of animations with motion capture and then they feed them into the ai so it manages to organize all the animations and select the one that matches the movement the character is doing.

Well Inverse kinematics can also do this.

I imagine the processing cost is enormous, so it probably won't be showing up in games for a long while yet.

You can watch any "next gen" game trailer out there and animations still suck royally. This looks promising.

This is super cool but probably uses up tons of cpu

The neural networks are the worst systems I've seen so far 😅

Procedural animation with inverse kinematics is nothing new.

Ugh this whole channel is just filled with boring misleading news. Procedural animation has been around for years!
