Nothing there will fasten two pieces of wood together. A hammer, screwdriver, saw, and tape measure would be among my first set of tools. The square & pencil will scribe a line as well as that wooden scriber. Then a set of clamps & at least a one foot level. With these you can build things.

Paul is old enough like me to appreciate this . We used to get a clout around the ear from our teacher when we called it a RULER . HE would say, it is not a ruler . A ruler is the king . What you are using to measure with is a RULE.

but sir, a tape, a hammer, a saw and a chisel is the most basic requirements..before moving on a compass, sliding bevel marking guage and rulers.
