Why I CAN'T Drive The New Porsche Taycan Electric Car

NEW Porsche Taycan RWD electric car first drive review! Taking a test drive in Porsche's latest electric car - only this time it is the entry level model, with 469hp (during over-boost) and with less weight than other Taycan models thanks to the removal of the front motors, the new Taycan might just be the best electric daily driver proposition yet! Oh and it also just broke a world record for sustaining a 26 mile drift!

James! I have been a follower of yours for the best part of 5/6 years now, and this might just be the first video you've made where you don't look like you're enjoying yourself.

0-60 isn’t the end all be all importance of a car. I would argue it’s even pointless for this car. The goal is for EVs to eventually be mainstream and environmental. This early EV focus on acceleration is a party trick to garner early attention for a new technology; not that 0-60 is really that important to most buyers

I do really like the styling on these cars (albeit this paint option is a no for me)

The interior is next level. I love the dashboard. Prefer it over the other EV options I have seen.

Agree on the discussion around it’s a purchase with your head not heart. Feel manufacturers need to put the focus on practicality and ease of use (charging, etc)
I would happily sacrifice the mind warping speed of the Turbo S for extra miles from the battery.

Would you upgrade the suspension? Any brands you would recommend?

Why would you need 500 mile range from an EV?

My petrol (M2) needs to fill up with petrol at 300 miles....and I certainly need a coffee / toilet break then.

A rapid charger will get the Taycan 5 to 80% in 20 minutes. And the charging infrastructure is growing exponentially (govt mandated for all motorway service stations by 2023).

The EV range argument is mostly in people's minds from watching Top Gear a decade ago.
