that interview style for MODERN FAMILY works so well because I think that we the audience really want to hear these people/characters talk to us in such simple and interesting ways: love when phil and claire are talking and claire will look somewhat sideways and inside/outside herself and silently correct phil for something he said that was so unique. Thank You MODERN FAMILY for the greatness you are.

that exposition that steve describes could work wonders on stage live theatre where the audience comes to sit and drink in the environment but that kind of exposition in REAL LIFE is just not real anymore and unless the character is PATTON or something THE GENERAL THAT IS you've got to be kidding....okay.
