Superstar Alex (Ariel Winter) is put to the test when her art teacher doesn’t recognize her talents. She must create a live-action art piece with her family, but the family is in disarray with each other. Jay (Ed O’Neill) and Gloria (Sofía Vergara) argue about how a waitress is closer to Jay than Gloria. Luke (Nolan Gould) is awarded a medal for putting out a fire he started, Phil (Ty Burrell) tries to fire Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson), and Claire (Julie Bowen) and Cam (Eric Stonestreet) fight about Cam’s parenting strategies. Can Alex pull the piece together, or will the family drop the ball?

It's ironic how Alex seemed to appear the most aloof from the family due to her intellect and the family's neglect towards her, but there are several such work/project related instances through out the show, where SHE brings the family together
