I'm sorry but why the hell did the company not sue the CEO who went to Australia for 100k and almost ruined them? There was definitely ground for it, who cares if he was the CEO when he did it, it was still theft of the company. If they could fire him for it, as in, he wasn't an all-powerful owner who can do just what he wants with company money, why didn't they? Weird.

Not a purchase but part of an expense report I had to vet. As part of the expense reports the employee had to submit pictures of their odometer on their company cars. I had to politely ask someone to please not take a picture of their odometer while driving.

"I'm sure the landlord was laughing his butt off at the whole thing, got a nice free addition."

Or probably not. Property taxes, increased maintenance costs, the potential to alienate future renters, zoning laws... he might have to pay a pretty penny to fix it or even tear it down.

Wow the dude who got vengeance for being fired is dumb. Did he thinks that because he wasn't working for them they somehow couldn't sue him for theft?

Here's my dumbest corporate card purchase story: When I was active duty, it was very common for Airmen to game the system by having their leave (vacation time) start on Monday, but actually take off over the weekend. The Commander's policy at that time was when on pass (eg not at work but not on leave), you had to stay within an 8 hour drive distance of the base. The odds of being caught violating that rule were very low, but this one Airman I supervised accidentally ratted himself out. His government card happened to look similar enough to his personal card that he got them mixed up and used the wrong one to fuel up his vehicle. Unfortunately, supervision sees the government card statements and that transaction proved that he was over 1000 miles away from base and not on leave. When he came back from leave, he did get yelled at by supervision, and obviously had to pay the credit card bill, but didn't get in any major trouble.

OK I've got one more. Backstory is my (now ex) wife's niece got married to a not nice man. Wife's sister flies to Colorado to pick up her daughter. Once in Colorado they rented a U-Haul truck and drove it to their home in upstate New York. On the way they stopped to see the wife and I in Illinois, so they could borrow money from us (as you've already guess I never saw that money again). Once they reached home the wife's sister was fired from her job AT HER OWN CHURCH because she had used the Church's credit card (to which she had access) to pay for the trip. She actually thought she hadn't done anything wrong because "I was going to pay them back."

I bought a bunch of booze, cigarettes, clothes, and food with my CC in the military. Never paid back a cent.

I had to question a woman where she spent 50 dollars for breakfast. She said breakfast. I said I understand she says its breakfast but I asked where. She said she didn't know. I asked for receipts and suddenly she was no longer claiming that on her reimbursement form.

I've got two:

First one is from the late 90's. A Manager wanted to do improvements on his home so he engaged the services of an electrician on the payroll to do the wiring, run coax, etc. To simplify the process (heavy sarcasm here) he used his company credit card to pay for the purchases and had the materials shipped to our place of employment. The electrician would receive the delivered materials, load them into his personal vehicle and off to Manager's house to do the install. They were caught when electrician, while on time off after having surgery (I swear on my mother's grave I am not making this up), came in (hobbling on his surgical boot) and picked up the regular delivery of materials, loaded them into his personal vehicle and headed out, apparently oblivious as to what people might think. Both men were canned.

Second one, a different Manager and twenty years later, wanted "his" Training Building to look spiffy so he used his company credit card for such essentials as plastic potted plants and dozens of paintings. He was given warning, but continued his extravagant purchases. The company just took his card away.

I think the one about the coffee buy about sums up the BS that is partying with "future clients".
