► LG CINEBEAM PROJECTOR REVIEW

You may find it hard to believe that I was once a big time home projection enthusiast. But as flat panel display sizes grew and became more affordable, I gave up having a dedicated home theater. So what possessed me to give home cinema projectors another try? Kristi! Kristi loves a big screen and had never had a home cinema with a 4K projector. So we got one! Are projectors as good as big screen tvs? Is the new LG Cinebeam the ultra short throw projector setup we’ve been waiting for?

I recently bought an Epson 6050ub and, oh boy, best $4k I've ever spent! I project it on a 120" screen and its blacks are as good as my LG computer monitor. It's silent, bright, 1, 200, 000:1 contrast and I truly love it. I don't think I'll go to the movies anytime soon.

Wow! I really appreciate Kristi’s input here! Definitely an unfiltered, non reviewer, civilian comment! Especially the LED light - twitch streamer comment lol! I love this review! 5 stars!

Love that you two are reviewing UST projectors. You brought up things I hadn’t seen in other reviews. I am looking forward to seeing more of these.

I have had a 133” cinescope screen for the last 6 months and I could never go back.

Finally, who cares if Kristi appears on screen or not. Her contribution to the reviews is one of the things I enjoy the most. Keep it up!

Projectors are NOT just about screen size, they are very much also about experience. The difference between watching a movie on a backlit panel TV vs the softer passive light of a projector is incomparable. Yes, size definitely matters, especially when it comes to immersion BUT so does over all experience. TVs and backlit screens in general (because of that direct blue light) have a caffeine buzzing effect to them. Aside from the damaging effects they have on your eyes, they also wire you up so to speak. Kind of like caffeine for your eyes. Your experience watching a movie on a tv will cause you to feel more edgy and buzzy (for lack of a better word. Ultimately it makes it significantly more difficult to just lull yourself into a movie the way you would had you seen it in the movie theater. I tried my first projector 6 years ago and I am never going back. Will jump through insane hoops to make one work in whatever living situation my wife and I (and now kid) are in. I had this specific LG projector and yes, your criticisms are 100% valid. Although I would suggest making other compromises for the sake of making it work. For instance, I used a Floor Rising CLR screen with mine which worked better than I even thought. To kill the light leakage (which is pretty bad I will give you that), I hung blackout cloth like curtains behind the screen. When the screen was down I pulled the curtains to each side and only pulled them in when I was ready to watch a movie and pull the screen back up. I know it sounds like just too much hassle but it IS worth it.

This is an amazingly dense review. Halfway through I'm wondering how the Samsung Premiere compares... and you went out and bought it! Major props, and much appreciation for you exploring this market segment.

The biggest issue is solving the center channel problem of both the projector and center channel occupying the same space.

Wow, I know this video is three years old but until I found this video I was having a very very hard time finding a review that was not sponsored. I thought you did an excellent job and appreciated your focus on key metrics and your honesty. It was refreshing and super educational. Thank you!!!!

I tried out the LG and the Samsung Premiere lsp9t and finally ended up with the Samsung. Did this in November during the lockdown and love having the big screen experience at home.

I am using a 120” Vividstorm electric screen with it and have enjoyed the experience so far. I moved up from a 52” sharp aquos 1080p so this was a huge step up in size and resolution.

Installation and alignment definitely took a while to get right. Still trying to figure out the right console for my setup.

I took the plunge with a Vava and motorized in-ceiling screen. Aside from all the amazingness of a huge screen, I also love having it disappear so a screen/TV is not dominating the room.

Thank you both for this great review. Very honest and informative. I'm onto my 4th projector. Truthfully, as a movie buff, I can never go back! Even though I have the latest LG OLED TV, each time I use it I'm simply disappointed at the "tiny" 65-inch picture. But like you said, ultra-short throw tech is simply not ready for prime time so I keep using a traditional projector. Movie night or video-game night on a 140-inch screen in a dark room cannot be beat by any TV right now. Not only size-wise, but the cinematic texture of a projector is simply better. Thanks for widening your review scope. Looking forward to more like this! Take care guys!

Just a really great review and banter back and forth. This is one of the best channels around.

This was an education, I had never heard or come across this kind of projector, its not for me though. Love how you changed the room around just to accommodate this review. I know nothing about projectors but I thought this review was utterly excellent

I have a 120" screen and although I know LED displays will destroy it when it comes to picture quality. The projectors picture is still excellent, especially when you don't do a side by side comparison with an LED display.
I don't watch regular TV and only watch movies and sport... 120" cannot be beaten.
