I'm 66 and can assure people this is more important than people realize. It appears a thing of the past and we who still adhere to idle time are criticized as not as interested or SLOW! We grew up in a society where it was recognized and appreciated! I see insanity thinking these days. People don't even realise how busy they are. Too busy to even take note if the moment, always trying to entertain themselves with activity with no time for processing life or resting from one activity to another!

You caught my attention with the Alan Watts piece. I call this idle time putting things on the back burner to let my sub and semi-subconscience work things out. It also helps to allow yourself to experience the moments as they pass while you are doing others things then talk to yourself in your head.
