So true when it comes to Scotty, he's so irrational. He shouts instead of talking, and spits as he shouts.

To be fair that is pretty much how all mechanics are, they want to buy new parts instead of fixing the issue. Several reasons for that

A new part is likely to outlast the 30 day mechanic labor warranty, so they can charge you again if it fails in 31 days or more.
A new part is less likely to fail in a few months.
Surprisingly the installation of a new part maybe easier then the repair on the old one, so it saves on labor.
Most mechanics have contracts with parts suppliers.

A good example is this. I owned an Elantra that had the steering wheel coupler issue, took it to the mechanic and they wanted to replace the whole steering rack. When I pointed out that it could be the well known issue of the steering coupler, they told me that they would still have to charge me the same price for labor because the installation process would be very similar.

So I looked up several videos and decided to do it myself, and told the mechanic I would only pay the $8.00 for the part and do it myself. He tried to explain how difficult it would be and how much experience you needed to work around the air bag systems. I said "Sure, can I have my part" and left. In the end it took me 30 to 45 minutes and the only thing that was required to mitigate any air bag risk was disconnecting the battery.

Mechanics don't want to admit it but 90% of their work is literally plug and play. Meaning unplug something and screw it back on exactly like you took it off, just in reverse.

though i have subbe both their channels, and have respect for scottys millenia of wrenching experience, i'd always for Chris' explanations if it comes to fixing or servicing something on my car. his way of making those "how to" kind of videos is just way better than anything scotty has ever uploaded. i changed the brakediscs and pads on my 2003 porsche boxster by following chris video, though i still had a bentley publishing servicemanual handy for specific things like how much torque the fasteners need etc.
