Stunner. They just pooped on the entire watch industry with this one. Just like the Chinese did to our scam tech industry here in the states. I do very much enjoy seeing the Chinese 1 up the world in such unimaginable ways.

I got the 38 mm seagull 1963. The regular one. I’m going to put it on a nato or vintage leather strap. The thing cost me 189 dollars and it’s beautiful. Worth every penny.

Chinese chronos offer amazing value.

Ordered this right after watching your video. Just got it today. I bought the optional metal bracelet as well and that really makes it amazing for me. Feels hefty and size is great. I like big watches and this doesn’t feel small at all. It really is gorgeous. I hope it’s durable and will last a lifetime, because it really is a beautiful timepiece. Thanks for the heads up on this one. Sold out real quick after your endorsement.

As we know, the Seagull ST19 movement is nothing less than a slightly modified Venus 175. Venus went bankrupt in 1960 and Seagull purchased the machinery and the rights from the swiss manufacturer. The Venus 175 is considered one of the best movements of the classic period just like the Omega 321 (based on the Lemania 2310) and the Valjoux 72 (based on the Valjoux 23). Thanks to ignorance, we can all purchase ST19 based watches for around $200. I even bought a few with the swan neck adjustment.

I've always loved the look of the seagull ST1901 and finally getting around to picking one up trying to decide between Red Star and Sugess pilot version (40 mm panda dial ) and they are very inexpensive nowadays (£150 -£180)
The moonphase and bronze case looks very nice I have to say, not seen that version before .

All your comments are correct about the Chinese; all of which could have been said about the Germans in the 1930’s. Yes, things are a lot different today; but I would rather support a country that is not out to destroy my country.

You've chosen great version of the 1963. The dial is similar to the Zenith Chrono and it's beautiful. I have a Red Star Chronograph homage to the Zenith El Primero and it's amazing so enjoy yours.

I love that green dial, bronze case and Moonphase. I need one in my life.
The Tianjin Seagull watch factory was initially created by a mandate of the Chinese government to make watches more accessible to people. The Seagull ST19 is the Venus 175 made by Seagull using Venus tooling and machinery they bought in the early 1960s. Venus was raising funds to develop new movements. Seagull began making the ST19 in 1963. Parts between today's Seagull ST19 and the vintage Venus 175 are interchangeable. Today, Seagull is the largest manufacturer of mechanical movements, making around 25% of all mechanical watch movements annually.
Seagull has a triaxial tourbillon that costs around $50k and I recently found out that they have a perpetual calendar that costs over $200, 000USD. I imagine Chinese billionaires buy them. I love Seagull watches but I'd have to be completely blown away with some innovations never before seen before I'd consider spending $200k on a Seagull perpetual calendar. Especially when a Patek Philippe perpetual calendar can be had for less and it won't hemorrhage most of its value immediately.

And the funniest part is, it is not even an original Sea Gull online store😂

I've owned the 1963 for three years. Love it. 140 quid. No need to get the flash swan neck version, the basic 140 quid traditional version is so damned charming and delightful on its own.

OK Oisin just made my first purchase for 2025, looking forward to my Seagull 1963 arriving. Happy New Year mate and please keep finding these affordable gems this year for us.

Um, yea. This IS one beautiful watch. The movement aside is already well made, but put it into this case, that dial, and even the cloth strap is astounding craftsmanship. I have the 1963 with sapphire crystal and back, the same movement in a bullhead chrono with blue dial, and another simple layout. This one though, is stunning. Wow!

Feature and accuracy wise, this is an absolutely great watch for that price point, but on regards of long-term durability, people I know who own Seagull 1969 experienced serious issues with the movement within the first year of ownership. Outside of waranty, fixing that watch is more expensive than the watch itself, if it is serviced in well developed countries.
