The Philippines has vehemently denied accusations from China that it is provoking conflict in the disputed waters. In a statement made by Medel Aguilar, the military spokesperson for the Philippines, he asserted that their actions are in compliance with international law and the enforcement of domestic regulations within their territorial waters and exclusive economic zone. In response, the Chinese embassy in Manila accused the Philippines of causing tension by sending construction supplies to a grounded navy vessel in the disputed Second Thomas Shoal. China warned that the Philippines, backed by external support, was challenging its principles and red lines.

Excellent move PBBM, the vast oil reserve in the WPS should have been extracted long before! you trully is a great leader, brilliant, strong and courageous, the country is indeed lucky to have you as the president especially at this time of crisis. You really opt for the welfare of the filipino people, food security, economy, infrastructure, lured investors to our country, peace and security, initiated talked with our allies to help secure and protect the sovereignty of the country esp in the WPS against the aggressor, bully and territory grabber Chinese. Let the OIL FLOW before your term expire or else your successor wiil offer our territory the WPS as a gift to China, we will lose the fish our seas and the rich resources which our sons and the next generation should inherit. MABUHAY PBBM!

Providing a comprehensive perspective and an accurate evaluation of the situation is essential. It's important to understand that no country or nation on Earth has exclusive ownership of an entire sea or ocean, except within their Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZs) as defined by the UNCLOS law. China willingly committed to adhere to this principle when it signed voluntarily the UNCLOS on December 10, 1982. The term "South China Sea" doesn't signify ownership by China, just as the Gulf of Mexico isn't owned by Mexico, the Sea of Japan isn't owned by Japan, and the Indian Ocean isn't owned by India. These are directional references on maps for navigation and travel purposes.

Any attempt to justify historical claims over entire seas or oceans lacks logical or legal foundation in the landscape of current international relations. Allowing China or any nation, to claim nearly an entire sea contradicts established laws, particularly those protecting freedom of navigation as outlined in the UNCLOS. This not only threatens the freedom of passage for countries trading with Southeast Asian nations or international vessels crossing this body of water for official or leisure purposes but also raises concerns about the imposition of China's trade and maritime laws when the South China Sea falls under China's complete control.

This is why China stands alone in its assertion, with no global support whatsoever for its claim over the South China Sea. No country supports China not even from its own strategic partners like Russia, Pakistan or North Korea. These nations, too, adhere to the principle that no country possesses exclusive ownership of almost an entire sea or ocean on earth.

The ongoing patriotic defense by the Philippines to safeguard its EEZ in the West Philippine Sea should genuinely be a global concern. Permitting China's expansive claims could disrupt not only free trade but also set a precedent for other nations to follow, endangering established maritime practices, decrees, and protocols worldwide. In the words of the Philippine Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro, China is transforming the entire South China Sea into its own Lake. This is truly alarming.
