For those who don't know, this is the sole reason why china started the belt and road initiative. Its aim is to create new routed for chinese goods to reach other nations and for China to get its energy by land. The BRI was started to reduce their dependency on the Malacca strait so that even if nato blocked the strait, china could still survive.

It's working. In 2010, 95% of china's oil came via the Malacca strait. In 2022, that number shanked to 75%

That "Strait of Malaka" comment is one of the most accurate I have heard you guys say. Even if Russia gave them all of the oil they could use, how could they get it to China? New pipelines take many years to build, and shipping through the Mediterranean and Baltics would be blocked.
