An FYI for those using those types of foils. Take a make up pad or a nail wipe with rubbing alcohol on it, and wipe the back of the foil 1st. There is a yellowish backing on the foils, if your remove that 1st, you'll get a better transfer of your foils. That backing can prevent foils from sticking/working.

Thanks for the experiment, I think it was worth the try. I think you could even do a part 2 follow up trying other glues, like eyelash glue or gorilla glues or tacky glues from the sewing and craft department...

3 years later and im halfway through nail school and i am SO glad i found this video. i ordered a bunch of transfer foils with a coupon i had and it didnt come with the glue and i want to try them so bad! 😫 gonna try my gel base coat, thank you ❤ definitely following you too, im gonna need some tips!!!

For me, school glue worked really well. I just put on a very thin layer and then put the foil on it asap. After that, I smoothes it before letting it dry there. Got them perfectly smooth and shiny.

I was saying the whole time you were testing the others I was saying wait gel works u can use a base coat or a top coat that is sticky and it will work you ended up doing it lol omg the dogs are so stinking adorable

I wonder if you put the foil on while it was still wet and allowed it to dry with it on if that would work. Maybe get some even coverage and not be so patchy.

Just doing a touch n go crackled marbling is the most common way these will work if you did a full coverage transfer test that would've been the best to show what works.

I would think waiting for it to dry would not work. I would try it when it's still tacky.

yeah, I think all of them are hit and miss - I've tried using gel base coat and had only very poor results - waiting for actual foil glue to be delivered today -- nothing I've tried has worked well enough for me to want to leave the foil on

Thanks about the gel base coat I do have that yay!!! I have all these foils and haven't been able to use them with regular glue and other things I've tried .. I don't have foil glue awesome! Great tip with the bobby pin!!! Thanks for sharing that❤

Hmmm I wonder if one could use leafing size. The foils and metal leafing are pretty much the same. I would use the water base sizing though especially when the nail is already mounted on the hand.

White glue Pva works well if you let it dry more.
